Lord God, May we, your people, who look forward to the birthday of Christ Experience the joy of salvation and celebrate that feast with love and thanks giving. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen The Second Sunday of Advent Prepare for the Coming of Jesus The 2 nd Candle is called the Second Week Dear Parents, Please keep Natalie and Taya McCormack, and families in your prayers at this difficult time. Kindly pray for the soul of Brian McCormack and the Souls of all other faithful departed. Also, keep in your prayers all of the families who have been affected by tragedies within our world. It is by the strength of prayer and support that we can contribute to these people. Last Friday, I spent an enjoyable time, celebrating with the school community at the St Andrew s Feast Day Mass. The mass was very reverent and a special mention to Mrs Campbell who stepped in to coordinate this event. Also to Mrs Young who led the singing and choir admirably. This was followed by an extra-ordinary activity with the water slides donated by the P&F. A wonderful day was had by all. The operator of the slides told me that they attend many schools throughout Perth and the country and St. Andrew s School is one that they love to attend because of the behaviour and manners of the children. Congratulations to all. Last week, we also had a number of events for the children. They included Water Wise Talks, Hopman Cup visit, Karate Child Safety Awareness and Anti Bullying Campaign and an AFL Clinic (James). A sincere thank you is extended to Mrs Campbell, Mrs Peacham and Mr Gavin Smith for organizing these events. On Monday we had a Music Gala Showcase. It is not a concert but a time when the whole school gathered to watch snippets of the children s learning from within the in-school music lessons. The amount of talent shown by our students is extra-ordinary as is the wonderful tuition provided by our music tutors. It is wonderful that our students are continually provided with extra curricula opportunities. Following our Music Gala we held the Parent Volunteers and Helpers Morning Tea. This annual event, provides an acknowledgement of those parents who assist the classroom teachers and the school in

so many different and varied ways. On behalf of everyone at St. Andrew s School, I sincerely thank all of our volunteers and helpers, and thank them for their contributions. NATIVITY A wonderful event was held last Tuesday night where our Kindergarten children performed, Year 5 narrated and the rest of the school formed the choir for the Nativity. We were so happy to see many children and families attend! A special mention to all of the staff and especially Mrs Mulholland and our Kindy staff for the preparation of this event. FREE DRESS DAY MONDAY 5 th DECEMBER 2016 The children will be able to wear free dress on Monday 5 th December for a gold coin donation to Catholic Christmas Charities. As you are well aware this is the Tutors livelihood. Your prompt payment is greatly appreciated. Please ensure that your child collects their musical instrument at the end of the year. P&F NEWS SPLASH DAY Last Friday s Splash Day was a huge success in spite of the very hot temperatures. The children did a wonderful job of wearing their hats, rashies and applying the sunscreen all day while having fun. When they were not on the slides, they were getting cooled down by the teachers at a water soaking area or dancing to the music. The children and staff at St Andrew s must be applauded for their spirit and good manners on the day. The staff from CastlesWA said it is always a delight to visit our school and are always amazed at the courtesy they are shown. Thank you to our volunteers who helped out with the sale of icy poles. Your assistance to the P&F is always appreciated and valued. Well done everyone!! We are resting the Splash Day next year and it will be back in 2018. Stay tuned as the P&F is bringing an incredible event in 2017 to celebrate our 20th year. We will need the support of all parents to ensure it can go ahead smoothly.
