Reflection Presentation on Issue in Multicultural Education Being that all members of our group are elementary education majors, we chose to teach about a different culture; the culture of Hawaii. The lesson is intended for elementary age students. We chose the culture of Hawaii because it is something that we are familiar with and we thought it would be very interesting; something that others can relate to. We had some prior knowledge about Hawaii, and none of our group members came with any assumptions or biases. None of our members felt any discomfort in talking about Hawaii; we were all pretty comfortable with the topic. Also, we did not think that our classmates would feel any discomfort in talking about the culture of Hawaii. We thought our classmates would enjoy the presentation and learn something about Hawaii that they did not already know. Our indicators of their learning were the cross-word puzzle and the class discussion. The strategies we thought would be the most effective were the lecture and the crossword puzzle. Hawaii is a pretty fun topic to explore and there are several items that could be furthered explored across all subject areas. If we were to go to Hawaii, now we think we would have a good understanding as to what to expect. Reflection Document Created with LiveText - livetext.com 6 of 6 1/13/08 2:36 PM
