GLOBAL CONFERENCE on EMERGING TRENDS in BUSINESS LIBRARIANSHIP Jointly organized by Vikram Sarabhai Library Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad Learning Resource Centre Bajaj Auto Library Indian School of Business Hyderabad Mohali November 21-22, 2017 at IIM Ahmedabad

Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad was set up by the Government of India in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat and Indian Industry as an autonomous institution in 1961. The Institute provides education, training and consulting and research facilities in management. In addition to its flagship two years Post Graduate Programme in Management, the Institute also offers Fellow Programme in Management, Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives, Faculty Development Programme and Management Development Programmes. Vikram Sarabhai Library is an invaluable resource for students, researchers and faculties of business and management. The library has over the years built a robust collection of over two lakh print items in addition to more than hundred databases providing scholarly and industry/company/country information. The library, spread over 48,000 sq. ft., also provides access to the best of business and management related digital resources. The Indian School of Business evolved from the need for a world-class business school in Asia. The founders, some of the best minds from the corporate and academic worlds, anticipated the leadership needs of the emerging Asian economies. They recognized that the rapidly changing business landscape would require young leaders who not only have an understanding of the developing economies but who also present a global perspective. The ISB is committed to creating such leaders through its innovative programmes, outstanding faculty and thought leadership. Funded entirely by private corporations, foundations and individuals from around the world who believe in its vision, the ISB is a not-for-profit organization Learning Resource Centre of the Indian School of Business is located as the heart of the Academic Centre (Cylindrical Building) at Hyderabad and in the Academic Quad (Level 2) at Mohali. The LRC is designed to meet the information needs of the ISB community. The Mission of the Learning Resource Centre is to support the Indian School of Business in building an internationally top ranked research driven management institution by establishing a knowledge hub and to enable access to information resources of all kinds providing innovative, responsive, and effective services to meet the changing needs of the academic community.

INTRODUCTION Libraries are becoming a very important place for learning and discussion. Furthermore, they are redesigning themselves to create more learning space. Libraries are also using many innovative approaches to serve the changing needs of the users. The same is true for the business libraries and business library professionals. The role of the business librarian is changing and the librarians are upgrading their skills and expertise to stay abreast of the ever-changing library environment. In this profession nobody knows what the future holds but deliberation, discussion and sharing expertise and learning experience with business librarians around the world will definitely help. In this background, Vikram Sarabhai Library, IIM Ahmedabad and Learning Resource Centre, ISB have been organizing the Global Conference on Emerging Trends in Business Librarianship (ETBL) since 2015. The first two conferences were successful and also remembered for many innovations in engaging the participants and making them unique LIS events. The major features of the events included: 1. The conference was a global event where the stakeholders from top business schools of different countries came and shared their experiences and ideas. 2. Workshops were an integral part of the conference and different topics included design thinking, negotiation strategies and leadership insight. 3. Pecha Kucha was used as a format for presentation to make it more interactive and to the point. 4. Moot Court on Copyright, Celebrity Chat Show and Panel Discussions on various emerging topics were some of the events that were successful and appreciated by the participants. This year the conference theme is focussed on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership. This theme has been considered keeping in mind the emerging global context of increasing interest in start-ups by the youth and the serious engagement of various government and industry bodies in nurturing and promoting an ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation. At this juncture, the libraries are keenly looking at supporting information needs of the start-ups while focusing on the innovation and leadership to sustain such initiatives. It may be very relevant to focus on these three dimensions of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership for business libraries while reflecting their own need to adopt these three approaches to make themselves relevant and to thrive in the 21st century. OBJECTIVE The objective of this proposed conference is to understand how business and other libraries are shaping themselves and preparing for the future in a digital eco system. It will provide an opportunity for the business library professionals across the world to share their experiences, ideas, research and knowledge for mutual benefit with fellow library professionals. The conference is an attempt to provide a platform to address issues relating to the emerging technology and trends that are reshaping across libraries.
