ADMINISTRATION OF CREDIT: The College Board sends all scores to the Office of Testing and Evaluation. From there, they are sent to Transfer Credit Evaluations in the Office of University Admissions. Currently, the person responsible is Janice Douglas in the Office of University Admissions. Contact her at (313) 577-4907. The student is notified by letter, usually during July, of the amount of credit awarded, The WSU equivalents and the placement achieved. Copies of the letter are sent to the appropriate advising offices. The College Board also sends copies of the score report to the student and the student s high school. Only official score reports sent directly to Wayne State are considered for credit. Credit is not awarded based on the credit awarded by another institution and placed on that institution s transcript. The student need only request the score be sent to Wayne State, but for information purposes, the WSU code is 1898. 2. CHEMISTRY: Students who have a score of 3 and elect the 1410-1420 sequence will be allowed full credit for the WSU sequence (15 credits total). 3. ENGLISH: Credit will be awarded for either examination, but not for both. 4. LAB: If a student satisfies both the areas of the Natural Science requirement (Life Science and Physical Science) by examination (AP, College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), or department-based credit by examination), the University s Natural Science Laboratory requirement should be considered fulfilled (General Education Implementation committee, Compiled Requirements, Guidelines and Criteria. 5.23). 5. RESTRICTIONS: No more than 32 hours of AP credit or a combination of AP, CLEP, and departmentbased credit by examination may be used toward a WSU degree, except by petition. 6. SCORE REPORTS: If a student does not direct the score to be sent to WSU when he or she takes the exam, it can be requested at a later date, either by using the form sent with the original score report or by contacting the College Board Testing Services. For examinations taken between 1999 and 2003, the request can be made by telephone (see number below). The current cost for regular service (five to six processing days) is $24, if the request is made by telephone and the student is billed, or $14 if the request is made by telephone and the cost is billed to a major credit card ($22 if the student requests a rush score). The cost is $14 per institution if the request is made in writing to the College Board Testing Services at the address below. For examinations taken prior to 1999, the request should be made in writing to the College Board Testing Services at: 7. P.O. Box 6671 Princeton, NJ 08541-6671 (609) 771-7300 AP_Policy_100203.doc Page #7
