Dear Sir/Madam, Greetings! As you are aware that the third edition of the CBSE-SGAI 2013 will be held on 20 th January 2013. Sealed parcel (containing packet(s) of Question Booklets and packing list) have been sent to you. These booklets (in continuous serial number) are commensurate to the numbers of students participating in the SGAI-2013 in your institution. You are requested to go through this circular carefully and extend support in furthering the endeavour for the successful conduct of the SGAI-2013. Pre-assessment: 1. It is Important to note that these packets should be opened only on 20 th Jan 2013 in the presence of two witnesses including invigilator/teacher-in-charge. 2. It is expected that concerned authorities will arrange proper storage facility for the assessment material till the date of assessment. 3. Sealed parcels containing SGAI Question Booklets must be opened by the Principal 30 minutes before the time fixed for the SGAI assessment. 4. Facsimile signature stamp of the Principal must be prepared in advance to be put on all Question Booklets. 5. Aptitude assessment is not an examination. Psychological tests of this nature are meant for self assessment rather than testing knowledge. Therefore, No admit cards, roll no. will be issued by the board. A. Guidelines for Students Although, the following instructions have also been mentioned in SGAI question booklets 2013, however, the Invigilator should reiterate the following before assessment to the students: a) The question booklet is designed to capture general information about the background and interests of the students, which may help them at the time of choosing subjects in class XI. 1
b) The question booklet has been made user friendly; in both Hindi and English languages. The instructions for students are also simple and self explanatory. c) There are 18 questions in all having simple statements. Whereas question no. 18, has two parts to be answered with binary response (Yes/No). d) CBSE SGAI 2013 should start at 10.00 a.m. It takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete the assessment. However this should not be taken as fixed limit. e) CBSE SGAI is not an examination. Therefore, students must relax. All parts of the question booklet should be attempted with sincerity. Mental preparedness and sincere responses are the pre- requisites for this test as SGAI scores may depend upon students environmental stimulus and motivation level. f) Students should mark their answers with either blue or black ball point pen only. g) There is no right or wrong answers. h) There is no negative marking, as well as no pass or fail. B. Post-assessment Principal of the schools are requested to ensure the following before sending the Question Booklets to the Board: a) Question Booklets should be complete in all respects. b) It is worthwhile to note that instructions pages of the booklet are integral part of the whole design of assessment. Therefore these pages must also be filled up by schools with utmost care, so as to ensure complete and timely assessment. c) Both the annexures (A and B) should be filled properly. d) Question booklets must be parceled as cloth-wrapped package and sealed thereon. e) It must contain separate envelope for annexures, superscribed SGAI-2013 ANNEXURE A and B over it, in bold letters. f) Parcel must be sent on the following address and NOT TO any other CBSE/Regional Offices: Rama Sharma, PRO & Project in charge, Central Board of Secondary Education, Shiksha Kendra, 2, Community Centre, Preet Vihar, Delhi-92 g) In any case parcel must reach before 30 th January 2013. h) This is advised to all the schools that they must keep record of all students who have opted for CBSE SGAI 2013. 2
Assessment and Score Cards As the assessment and interpretation of booklets will be conducted by the board under the supervision of an expert panel; therefore schools are required to send them to the address and by the date mentioned above. The board will issue school wise scorecards to individual students after analysis and interpretation. Important Note: CBSE SGAI is optional for schools and students. It has been designed with the aim of helping the larger population including parents, teachers and students to initiate a dialogue on subject choices leading to careers ahead in life. SGAI assessment is not binding on the schools or the students. It should be taken only as an indicator or a facilitator to empower a child with self knowledge and enable the child in making informed subject choices. However, the results of SGAI taken together with the student s assessment from other sources might help students and parents in making informed subject choices.
