NATIONAL ONE-WEEK FDP ON INNOVATIONS IN TEACHING AND RESEARCH METHODS (IITRM-2017) Date : 05 th June - 11 th June 2017 Teach to Learn and Learn to Teach Organized by MODERN ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES BALASORE-756056, ODISHA

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME In today s scenario, decision making has become multifaceted and complicated. It thus has become imperative to identify the research problems with the objective of creating knowledge for the benefit of business, economy and society at large. Researchers at times, find themselves technically constrained while promoting research due to lack of understanding of statistical analysis and techniques. So, there is a need of developing an understanding in designing and carrying out research that can better equip faculty to effectively guide their own research and student s research work and dissertation. This FDP focuses on the procedure to do research. As a researcher it is mandatory for one to know the basics, in order to satisfy the purpose of research and establish an acceptable conclusion. This FDP aims to impart knowledge on Research Methodology, Hypothesis Testing, Correlation & Regression, Measures of Central Tendency, Measures of Variability, Measures of Shape, Descriptive Statistics, Probability Distributions, Parametric & Non Parametric tests, Time-series analysis, Literature Review, Citation, Referencing Styles, and Ways to avoid Plagiarism etc. These days the role of research is being introduced at all the levels of education to get the exposure of real world problems and their possible solution to the students. Uses of research tools are going to be very common in prestigious institutions. This FDP will help you to understand the basic as well as advanced concept of research with hand-on experience of SPSS. Various case studies will be discussed to make you comfortable on various research tools. We all welcome you to this FDP of learning and sharing the ideas on research methodology. ABOUT THE INSTITUTE Modern Engineering & Management Studies (MEMS) has been established in the year 2008 for promoting the technical education in the field of Engineering and Management etc for the aspiring youth. It is built in a well planned pollution free environment. It is located in Balasore, the Sand City of Orissa and the Missile Test Centre of India. Built in an area of about 1,00,000 square feet of technical infrastructure, it promises to provide the best possible technical education in Orissa. The campus is built at Banparia on NH 5 near Kuruda, which is only 5 Km from Balasore Railway Station and the Bus Stand. The infrastructure comprises of huge air conditioned well furnished class rooms, seminar halls, lecture halls, various laboratories with adequate equipments, workshop, a well stocked library, and continuous power backup with internet facility. The lush green campus spreads over 12 acres with spacious playground, fitness center, out door sports facilities, indoor games, departmental store and canteen. The well planed arboriculture has added to the beauty of the campus. The Wi Fi network of the entire campus keeps the people connected at all times. The nicely planned hostels and the academic ambience of the campus offer an ideal environment for pursuit of a professional career. OBJECTIVE The objective of the FDP is to help participants to gain basic understanding of research methodology and their utility within related areas as a means of summarizing data, making estimates and testing hypothesis. Participants will learn concepts related to sample statistics and how to make inferences about populations from the same. They will gain quantitative literacy related to basic statistics and learn basics related to research methodology. COVERAGE Innovations in Teaching.
