Administrative Fellowship Exchange with UCLA Origin 9
Administrative Fellowship Exchange with UCLA STRUCTURE Fellows spent two days at each location Largely self-coordinated Met with various members of the executive teams Attended meetings Toured the facilities JHM Fellows presented to the monthly meeting of Presidents 10
Administrative Fellowship Exchange with UCLA Key Lessons for Fellows Similar challenges and strategies Urban issues Capacity / bed management International Academic mission Different approaches and leadership styles for addressing challenges 11
Administrative Fellowship Exchange with UCLA Key Lessons for Me PROS Enhances learning experience both for Fellows and organization Enough distance to allay concerns about sharing competitive information Logi$tics CONS Inertia for planning Needs to have an executive champion to ensure success Format worked well vs. spending a week or month Recommendation: Focus on regional exchange. Creating forums for Fellows to engage leads to organic connections, but needs a champion to make it work and sustain it. 12
