This was particularly impressive as we nearly had to cancel due to low numbers. It is a lovely evening in a superb setting and it would be lovely to see more parents next year as it is chance to meet other parents and help to raise money for the school at the same time. A big thank you again to those who contributed and came along to support us, this enabled the event to take place. I would really like to urge you to get involved with the School Association as the current team struggle to organise everything and it is for the benefit of all pupils in the school. Several of the team do not even have children in the school anymore but continue to help at events and allow fundraising to take place. We won t be able to continue without ongoing support and even the slightest amount of time is helpful. If you are able to join thee School Association please get in touch with Sue Collins in the admin office. Photos of the evening are on page 4 of this newsletter. Kind regards Rona Jones Headteacher / Pennaeth Bank of God Have you heard about the Bank of God? Why not open up a spiritual account and click on the link that connects you to God. It encourages us to build up a strong savings account so that when extra spiritual finance is required we can write a healthy cheque to solve our problems. A good prayer deposit every day is encouraged. The Bank of God has 100% success rate if you can be patient.. At this time of the year all our students are drawing on their spiritual bank accounts. It is important to realize that God loves us so much and wants us to succeed. Remember He has the plan so all we have to remember is to do our best. N.B. Having a long, solid friendship with the Bank Manager is highly recommended for best results. Amen In preparation for the Welsh National Tests, GCSE & GCE exams we have an exam prayer wall where prayer requests can be placed for all our pupils, past and present during this stressful time. Throughout the exam period there will be a short morning prayer in chapel at 8.40 am and also prayers offered during our daily rosary at 12.40. All are very welcome to join us. Music Department Congratulations to Elsie Smith who has recently been awarded her Grade 3 Cornet and to Bethan Guiver who has been awarded her Grade 4 Singing. Mrs Davies will be starting a music theory club for senior pupils on Tuesdays after school until 4:45pm. It is free and will be in the studio. Anyone interested please contact Mrs Davies. Well done girls. CCF News - Flying at RAF Cosford (outside Telford). Six very lucky cadets from the RAF Section went to RAF Cosford, near to Telford, during the week, and got a fantastic flying experience. Everyone had a go at taking control of the aircraft. Thank you very much to Miss Spiller for taking us, even though we started at 6.10am! Our next visit is at the end of June, and will be popular. Year 1, 2 and 3 took part in a cricket workshop on Wednesday afternoon. They enjoyed a range of activities such as throwing and catching, team games and hitting the ball with a cricket bat. A big thank you to Alun Davies from Carmel Cricket Club for running the workshop, the children had a wonderful afternoon. News from the Primary School Congratulations to the Primary School who raised 53.89 for Primary Resources by holding a cake stall today. Well done to all the pupils and parents for the delicious cakes which were made to be sold.

Denbighshire Athletics Congratulations to all pupils who represented St Brigid s in the Denbighshire Athletics Tournament this week. All pupils put in 100% effort into their events and there were some exceptional performances across all categories. Year 9 Girls shone through as our outstanding team, finishing in 3rd place overall. There was success in the relay events with two 2nd place and one 3rd place finishes. In total there are seven pupils going to represent Denbighshire in the North East Wales event next week, congratulations to Carys Taylor (1st Long Jump), Maisie Donohoe (1st 300m), Abbie Williams (2nd 200m), Alicia Williams (2nd 100m), Sian Casilao (1st 800m), Andrew s Reji (2nd 200m), Lauren Tanner (2nd High Jump). Thank you to Mr Bennett all his help organising the event. GCSE Exams May 8th June 19th GCE Exams May 1st June 20th Each pupil taking exams this summer has already been given their own individual timetable. However all other information regarding exam timetables, policies, results days and contact information can be found on the St Brigid s School website under the Curriculum heading. There is also a very useful condensed Exam Booklet 2018 under Exam Information which will guide and inform you on most matters regarding the Summer Exam season. I wish you and your child the very best during this stressful time and please don t hesitate to get in touch if you have any concerns or worries. Mrs Bollard

The Annual Spring Ball was once again hosted at the at Faenol Fawr, Bodelwyddan. It was a lovely evening. After enjoying a superb meal everyone was entertained by Mr Kelvin Bollard who hosted the Promise Auction where some real bargains were to be found. Thank you to all the Parents, Friends, Governors, Pupils and Staff who supported the evening both by donating Promises and by buying tickets and bidding on the night. A huge thank you to Mrs Joy Jones who organised the evening. Joy has raised thousands of pounds for the school over the many years that she has been organising this event and we thank her very much for doing this. All the funds contribute towards the ICT needs of the school and many of the ipads etc that your children are using in school are funded from this evening. We look forward to seeing you all there next year.

Cadet Cambrian Patrol competition. Eight cadets took part in the cadet community s hardest endurance competition, the annual Cadet Cambrian Patrol which is held in South Wales. The competition is for a team of eight, and is an achievement to even get to the event. Everyone had been completing the advanced Army training and had put a lot of effort into getting ready. A few injuries meant that half of the team were from the RAF Section but everyone contributed greatly to the success of the team. The team travelled down on Friday after school, and were on the training area by about 6am. They had to navigate in rugged countryside, and visit stands where specific skills were tested in very realistic conditions. The competition was particularly hard as most other teams were made up entirely of Sixth Formers. Well done to Nathan Bewley (Year 12), Jack Rowley (team leader), James Hone & Philip Wood (from Year 11) and Leah Bewley, Kyle Dela Cruz, Thomas Kingsland & Llyon Morgan-Read (from Year 10). Duke of Edinburgh Silver Expedition Sixteen Year 10s completed their practice Silver expedition over the weekend. Camping for two nights and carrying all their equipment, the groups took themselves along the Clwydians. The next expedition will be their assessment, in Snowdonia in June. Thanks to Capt Bunn, 2Lt Spiller and Lt Col Wood. A huge congratulations to 7G who raised a magnificent 80 today by running a break time cake stall. All money raised will be sent to the Meththa Foundation UK. Every penny donated is used to improve the life of a disabled and helpless amputee person in Sri Lanka. Their annual walk Wenlock Windanaya will take place in Much Wenlock on the 26th & 27th July.
