5.64-GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR 2015, 2016, 2017 Any student enrolled in Fayetteville School District may receive a diploma after completing the following requirements: CORE DIPLOMA SMART CORE DIPLOMA *(Math 4 units-algebra I or its equivalent, Geometry or its equivalent, other math units must build on the base of algebra and geometry knowledge & skills 3 units-1 unit of Biology, 1 unit chosen from a physical science, 1 elective science Social Studies 3 units- American History, World History and ½ unit of Civics/ ½ unit of Economics Physical Education - ½ unit PE Fine Arts ½ unit (art, music, fine arts drama) **Math 4 units Algebra I or 1 st part & 2 nd part Algebra I (Grades 7-8 or 8-9), Geometry or 1 st &2 nd part Geometry (Grades 8-9 or 9-10), Algebra II, 4 th math Choice of: ***Advanced Topics & Modeling in Mathematics, Algebra III, ***Calculus, Linear Systems & Statistics, ***Mathematical Applications and Algorithms, Pre-Calculus, or an Advanced Placement mathematics, or concurrent credit course beyond Algebra II 3 units 1 unit of Biology, 2 units chosen from Physical, Chemistry or Physics Social Studies 3 units American History, World History and ½ unit of Civics/½ unit of Economics CAREER FOCUS ELECTIVE 2 UNITS FPS Additional Requirements for Graduation CAREER FOCUS ELECTIVE 2 UNITS *A two-year algebra equivalent or a two-year geometry equivalent may each be counted as two units of the four (4) unit requirement under Core Diploma requirements. **All students under Smart Core must take a math course in grade 11 or 12 and complete Alg. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR 2018 AND BEYOND In addition to to graduation requirements found below, the class of 2018 and beyond is required to take at least one (1) digital learning course for credit while in high school. The District shall offer one or more digital learning course(s) through one or more District approved provider(s) as either a primary or supplementary method of instruction. The courses may be in a blended learning, online based, or other technology-based format.
