1. Admission Policy The Graduate School of Management at GLOBIS University has a mission to develop visionary business leaders who create and innovate societies. When considering applicants, we pay close attention to an individual s personal motivation, skill set, ability to think logically and way of interacting with others. We aim to attract future business leaders who are passionate about improving their skills, expanding their human network and finding their personal mission. In this way, we believe we can realize our mission and work together to bring about positive change and innovation for society, whether in Japan, Asia or other parts of the world. 2. MBA Program Overview University Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University Degree Conferred Program Format Master of Business Administration (MBA) Part-time (weekday evenings and weekends) In-person at our Tokyo Campus Live, interactive online classes Language English Start Date October Length of Program Intake 2 years 55 students 3. Admission Requirements Applicants to GLOBIS University need to be 22 years of age or more by the time of entrance and satisfy the following requirements. If you do not meet one or more requirements below, you are required to undergo a Preliminary Screening (refer to section 3-1). Have at least two years of full-time work experience by the time of entrance Meet ONE of the following criteria by the time of application: (1) Received a bachelor s degree from a recognized college or university. (2) Completed a 16-year curriculum of school education in an institution outside of Japan and possess a degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree. (3) Received confirmation from GLOBIS University that your academic capacity is equivalent to that of a university or college graduate. 1

3-1. Preliminary Screening Process *This is only for applicants who do not meet the requirements in section 3. If you are 22 years of age or more by the time of entrance but do not meet the other requirements in section 3, you can still apply for the MBA Program, but will first need to pass the Preliminary Screening. The documents listed below need to be submitted through our Online Admission System by the deadlines shown in the following table. You will be notified of the results of the screening on the Online Admission System. Please note that applicants with no full-time work experience are NOT eligible to apply for the Preliminary Screening. If you pass the Preliminary Screening, you will need to submit the remaining documents as described in section 7. 4. Admission Process Admission will be decided after a review of your credentials through (1) an initial screening phase (mainly of the submitted documents) and (2) a second screening phase (mainly through an interview and examination). Notes regarding the second screening phase: (1) Interview and Examination For applicants taking courses mainly On-Campus (Those who answered expect to take less than 75% of the courses online to essay Question 5): You will need to join a face-to-face interview (30 minutes) and complete a written logical thinking examination (one hour). For applicants taking courses mainly Online (Those who answered expect to take more than 75% of the courses online to essay Question 5): You will need to join a Skype or telephone interview (30 minutes). Exemption 1: Applicants may be exempt from the interview depending on the result of the initial screening phase. 2

Exemption 2: Applicants who have completed the Critical Thinking course in any language at either GLOBIS University or GLOBIS Management School with a grade of A, B or C will be exempt from taking the logical thinking examination. Those who are currently taking the Critical Thinking course and have not received the final results will NOT be exempted. (2) Background Screening Applicants who passed the initial screening and require GLOBIS University to sponsor a student visa are required to undergo a background screening. The background screening will be conducted by the vendor designated by GLOBIS University and will be initiated once the applicants receive the initial screening result. Any discrepancy between the information reported during the application process and information verified through the background screening may be grounds for rescinding acceptance to the Part-time & Online MBA Program. An offer to the MBA Program will not be final until the background screening is complete with results deemed as satisfactory. 5. Applicants who do not require GLOBIS University to sponsor a visa or wish to study online and do not require a student visa may apply in any round. If you are asked to take an interview and/or exam, the dates will be decided from the possible dates above. In principle, schedule changes will not be permitted unless the applicant makes a request to the Admissions Office on the Online Admission System when submitting the application. Multiple applications within the same academic year for the following programs will not be accepted: Part-time & Online MBA Program (English) Full-time MBA Program (English) Part-time MBA Program (Japanese) Online MBA Program (Japanese) 3

6. How to Apply Applicants are required to submit the application documents listed in section 7 through the Online Admission System (https://mbaadmission.globis.ac.jp/adm/c/ac0001) by 6:30 p.m., Japan Standard Time, of the deadline dates in section 5. Applications submitted by e-mail, fax or mail are NOT accepted. The application fee cannot be reimbursed or deferred to another academic year. Once submitted, you will not be able to make any changes to documents. Accepted applications which contain falsified or plagiarized information will automatically result in the withdrawal of acceptance. The application will not be examined if it is incomplete or contains errors. 7. Application Documents Applicants can submit all of the documents through the Online Admission System. Documents written in languages other than English are NOT ACCEPTED, except where otherwise prescribed. If the document is written in a language other than English, please attach an English translation signed by a translator. Personal Data (required for all) Fill out your personal data, work experience and academic record as requested on the Online Admission System. Make sure to show that you possess at least two years of full-time work experience (work experience during a study period will not be regarded as full-time work experience unless an acceptable explanation is provided illustrating how both commitments were managed). Otherwise, you will need to undergo a preliminary screening (see section 3-1). Photo (required for all) Upload a high resolution digital image in JPEG format (must be 500KB to 2MB). Should be a headshot with no hats or other irregular headgear in front of a white or blue background and taken within the last three months. The photo will be used for your Student ID Card. Letter of Recommendation (required for all) One letter of recommendation is required. By sending a request from the Online Admission System, your recommender will be able to receive a link to download a recommendation letter form and upload it to the system. If your recommender is unable to make the submission online, you can receive the original letter signed and sealed by the recommender and send it to the Admissions Office by registered air or express mail by the application deadline. The recommender should be a supervisor or person who has or has had a close business relationship with you. Transcript (required for all) See p.13 for sample Upload a transcript of your bachelor's degree (master s/doctoral degrees are additional and optional). If you are a Preliminary Screening applicant and do not have a bachelor's degree, you will need to upload a transcript of your highest level of education where you received a diploma (e.g., high school diploma). The transcript must include a list of all courses you completed and the grades you received. You may upload a copy of your transcript; however, you will be asked to submit the original transcript should you be admitted to GLOBIS, and it will not be returned once submitted. A photocopy is only accepted if officially certified by a university or legal authority. 4

Certificate of Graduation See p.14 for sample If the graduation date and the name of your obtained degree are stated in your transcript, it is not necessary to submit a Certificate of Graduation. Otherwise, you must upload a Certificate of Graduation for your bachelor's degree (master s/doctoral degrees are additional and optional). Uploading a copy of your Certificate of Graduation is acceptable; however, you will be asked to submit the official Certificate of Graduation should you be admitted to GLOBIS, and it will not be returned once submitted. A photocopy is only accepted if officially certified by a university or legal authority. Evidence of English Ability Upload evidence of your English Ability issued within two years of the application deadline. TOEFL, TOEIC, and IELTS scores are accepted. (We strongly recommend the TOEFL test.) You can be exempted from submitting the evidence if: a) You are a native English speaker and chose English as your Native Language on the Online Admission System. b) You received an undergraduate or graduate degree from a program taught entirely in English. Please note: if you received this degree from a university NOT located in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, the United Kingdom or the United states of America, please upload an official letter from your university or submit a link (enclosed in a word document) to the university's web page clearly indicating that the program was taught entirely in English. Essays (required for all) Answer the essay questions on the Online Admission System. (Refer to section 7-1 for the questions.) GMAT/GRE Score Report (optional) Upload your official GMAT/GRE Score issued within the last five years. CV (optional) Upload your CV. Summary and Evidence of Financial Resources (all non-japanese applicants) See p.15-16 for sample Non-Japanese applicants must prove that they have sufficient funds to support themselves for the full duration of their studies at GLOBIS University. The evidence must show at least JPY 1.5 million per year, and if you bring any family members to Japan, evidence of additional JPY 500,000 per year per family member is required. Download the prescribed Summary of Financial Resources form from the Online Admission System and declare the amount of your available financial resources. Each amount indicated in the Summary of Financial Resources should be accompanied by any of the following supporting evidence: (i) Your Savings: your bank account balance issued within the past three months (ii) Your Supporter s Savings: your supporter s bank account balance issued within the past three months AND a signed Letter of Financial Support (see p.17 for sample) (iii) Others: if you have financial resources other than mentioned above, upload documents that prove the existence of such funds Any of the above should include the issue date, your (or your supporter s) name, account number and savings amount. If the total amount of your financial resources is less than the required amount, please indicate your plan to fund the shortfall. Residence Card (all non-japanese applicants living in Japan) Upload a scanned image or photo of both sides of your residence card. Translation from Japanese is not required. 5

GLOBIS Scholarship Application Answer the scholarship essay question on the Online Admission System if you would like to apply. Refer to section 10-1 for the eligibility and essay questions. Application Fee Applicants living in Japan: JPY 36,000 Applicants living Overseas: JPY 15,000 Credit card payment only. Cash payments are not accepted. Policy of Returning Documents Once submitted, we will not return any documents that can be reissued or replaced by other means. This includes the following: letter of recommendation, transcript, translation(s), notarized certifications, CV, evidence of financial resources, summary of financial resources, photocopy of residence card. 7-1. Essay Questions The following essay questions need to be answered in your application. Please emphasize any international experience where applicable. Q1. Tell us about a recent work or project experience about which you were passionate. Describe why you were passionate about the experience, how your skills and values contributed to the experience, and how you worked with others. (250 to 550 words) Q2. Tell us about a challenging situation that you have personally faced. Describe concretely what you did about the situation as well as what you learned from it. (250 to 550 words) Q3. Tell us about a long-term goal or vision for society and your plan to realize this vision. Describe specifically the source of inspiration for your vision, such as an inspiring person, book, or other experience. Describe how GLOBIS University and an MBA degree will help realize your vision and concrete steps make this vision a reality. (250 to 550 words) Q4. Tell us about any volunteer activities, social activities, or school groups that you have been involved with. Describe the activity as well as your role and how long you were involved. Additionally, mention any academic and/or business awards you have received. (250 to 550 words) Q5. (Supplementary information, only for Part-time & Online MBA Program) What percentage of courses do you expect to take online? Please choose from the following: 1) 25% or less, 2) up to 50%, 3) up to 75%, 4) more than 75%. Please note this information will be used as a reference only. Students are free to take a combination of both on-campus and online courses. (Less than 50 words, essay format not necessary.) 6

8. Final Results and Enrollment Registration You will be notified by email when the admission results are finalized. You will be able to check the results and download an Acceptance Letter and Enrollment Guide from the Online Admission System. Be sure to complete the enrollment registration by the deadline described in the Enrollment Guide. Please note that we cannot respond to any inquiries regarding application results (including over the phone). 9. Tuition and Living Costs in Tokyo 9-1. You may pay in full upon request. The payment due date of the first installment is end of September,. The tuition for credits earned prior to admission and recognized as credits earned at GLOBIS University (including credits earned as a Pre-MBA student) will be deducted equally from the second installment and fourth installment (not from the first installment). 9-2. Living Costs in Tokyo We estimate that living costs in Tokyo for one person can be approximately JPY 150,000 per month or more, depending on your lifestyle. 10. Scholarships/Loans 10-1. GLOBIS Scholarships GLOBIS Scholarships are available to students who demonstrate the potential to contribute to the GLOBIS community through strong academic performance and exceptional leadership qualities. GLOBIS Online Scholarship - Eligibility: Applicants who expect to enroll in and to earn more than 75% of the credits required for graduation (i.e. 27 credits) through online courses. - Scholarship Amount: The scholarship can cover up to 50% of the tuition. 7

GLOBIS On-Campus Scholarship - Eligibility: Non-Japanese applicants who expect to enroll in and are not applying for the Online Scholarship. - Scholarship Amount: The scholarship can cover up to 25% of the tuition. Note: The scholarship amount does not cover the following fees and expenses: enrollment fee, additional tuition for long-term enrollment, non-globis textbooks, extra-curricular expenses (ex. off-site elective courses) and living expenses. (GLOBIS Online Scholarship recipients only) Additional tuition shall be charged when the credits earned through online courses fall short of 75% of the credits required for graduation (i.e. 27 credits). Additional tuition per 1 credit for the shortfall is JPY 82,250. Following are the eligibility and application/selection process that are common to both GLOBIS Online and On-Campus Scholarships: (1) Eligibility Enrollment in the Part-time & Online MBA Program in. Continuous efforts to accomplish what is stated in the scholarship essay and contribute to the program. Expect to successfully complete the requirements for graduation. Cooperation with GLOBIS marketing activities, such as providing or participating in interviews, photos, profiles, and stories for internal and external use. Permission will be requested prior to publishing and, if unable to cooperate, you can inform the office of the reason and an exception will be considered. Outstanding performance during admission including but not limited to extensive international business experience, strong academic background, potential contribution to the GLOBIS student body and native-level English proficiency. Sufficient need of financial assistance. (2) How to Apply Please submit the scholarship essay along with your GLOBIS application information on the Online Admission System. <Essay Questions> 1. Why is a scholarship important in order for you to achieve your goals outlined in your MBA application? (Up to 200 words) 8

(3) Screening Process GLOBIS will conduct the screening based on the scholarship essay and the information submitted for application. The final decision regarding the GLOBIS scholarship will be sent on the day of the final admission result announcement. Details of the scholarship selection process are strictly confidential. 10-2. GLOBIS Education Loans GLOBIS University provides financial assistance to non-japanese students who are expected to hold a student visa. If you are granted a loan, you are able to postpone up to 50% of the tuition until six months after graduation, while paying a small handling fee during the two-year program. You will have a maximum of five years to complete repayment of the loan. (1) Eligibility Enrollment in the Part-time & Online MBA Program in. Expect to hold a student visa upon enrollment. Continuous efforts to accomplish what is stated in the scholarship essay and contribute to the program. Expect to successfully complete the requirements for graduation. Cooperation with GLOBIS marketing activities, such as providing or participating in interviews, photos, profiles, and stories for internal and external use. Permission will be requested prior to publishing and, if unable to cooperate, you can inform the office of the reason and an exception will be considered. (3) Screening Process GLOBIS will conduct the screening based on the information submitted for application. The final decision regarding the loan application will be sent on the day of the final admission result announcement. Details of the loan selection process are strictly confidential. 10-3. Scholarships from Other Organizations Several organizations provide scholarships for privately financed international students and/or Japanese students. 1. Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students by JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) 9

This scholarship provides stipends for living expenses and other expenses related to coursework for six months. (For reference, the monthly stipend was JPY 48,000 for 2017). (http://www.jasso.go.jp/en/study_j/scholarships/scholarship/shoureihi/index.html) (1) Eligibility (subject to change) Neither lived nor visited Japan during the admission screening (such as interview and examination). Is expected to hold a student visa upon enrollment. Is not sponsored by a government. Does not receive an allowance from a supporter exceeding 90,000 yen a month. Does not receive a scholarship from another institution excluding the GLOBIS Scholarship. Does not have a dependent in Japan whose annual income exceeds 5 million yen. MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Scholarship MEXT Scholarship for University Nominated Students This scholarship is available only for non-japanese applicants who pass the screening for our MBA application in the November round. The scholarship mainly covers your living expenses for two years (for reference, the monthly stipend was JPY 147,000 for 2017). Please note that a limited number of applicants will be selected for this scholarship. (1) Eligibility Accepted to the Part-time & Online MBA Program in the November application round. Expect to hold a student visa. Non-Japanese (you cannot have Japanese nationality by the time you enter Japan). Born on or after April 2, 1983. Have a GPA of 2.30 or above for the last 2 years of your last educational period. Not a MEXT Scholarship recipient within the past 3 years. 10

(3) Screening Process GLOBIS University will conduct the initial screening based on the information submitted for application. Candidates who passed GLOBIS University s initial screening for the MEXT scholarship will receive instructions about further procedures on the day of the final admission result announcement. The second screening will be conducted by MEXT and the final result is schedule to be announced around the end of May, (subject to change). MEXT Scholarship for Embassy Nominated Students Application for this scholarship will begin prior to application to GLOBIS University. Please ask for more information at your local Japanese Embassy. This scholarship can cover both the total tuition and your living expenses for up to two years. Besides the above scholarships, there are additional scholarships offered by private institutions. You will receive detailed information regarding these scholarships after starting your MBA program. Please note that many of these scholarships have specific requirements including nationality restrictions and Japanese language ability. 10-4. Education Loans from Other Organizations Financial institutions introduced by GLOBIS University offer educational loans (with favorable interest rates). Please note that you are required to speak and read Japanese in order to understand the contract. If you need further information, please contact the Admissions Office. 11. Training and Education Benefits System (Only for applicants working in Japan) The GLOBIS MBA program has been designated as a Training and Education facility by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. If you meet certain conditions, you will be able to obtain financial support from the government. To confirm your eligibility, please contact a HelloWork Office. GLOBIS cannot determine eligibility for this program. There are two types of benefits: (1) Specialized Practice Training and Education Benefits If you have paid employment insurance in Japan for at least two years as of the start of the program and meet other conditions (e.g., completing the MBA program within two years), you will be entitled to receive a refund of up to JPY 400,000 per year. In addition, if you are covered by employment insurance upon graduation you will be entitled to receive a further refund of up to JPY 320,000. 11

(2) General Training and Education Benefits If you pay or have paid employment insurance in Japan but do not meet the conditions for the Specialized Practice Training and Education Benefits system (e.g., planning to complete the MBA program in three years), you may still be able to receive the General Training and Education Benefits.
