The college is committed to improving learning opportunities for students and values both parent and student feedback. A very quick survey can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/p97vv7g which asks parents to indicate the areas that they believe are important for the college to focus on in the future. The survey also asks you what programs should be available to your child/children and the characteristics you believe are important to develop in your child/children whilst they are at Monbulk College. I would greatly appreciate you taking 5 minutes to complete the survey. Student Successes Arden Iles and Laura McClelland were both selected to play for Australia in the Youth Girls 2000-2001 age group in the Thailand Tour 2016. Australia sent three teams to this event where students experienced games against the best players in the world. The teams had the opportunity to play Vietnam who are currently ranked number one in the world. The Australian green team in which Arden played made it through to the second round which was an amazing achievement given the strength of the competition. Well done girls on your selection in the Australian team. District Cross Country Congratulations are extended to Ben Grimes (1 st ), Zac Teese (2 nd ), Brad Langridge (3 rd ), Josh Yuki (1 st ), Erwin Berger (2 nd ), Jazz Tyler- Ratcliffe (3 rd ), Grace Hyett (2 nd ) and Amy Veenendaal (3 rd ) who were all placed in the top 3 in their age group. Monbulk College has been able to offer four Year 9 students the opportunity to attend the School for Student Leadership at the Alpine School Campus in Term 4, 2016. The School for Student Leadership is a Victorian Department of Education and Training initiative offering a unique residential education experience for year nine students, focussing on personal development and team learning projects. In 2015, Monbulk College sent a team of six year 9 students to Gnurad-Gundjij Campus in Victoria s Western District and the College has been fortunate to once again be invited to send a team of four students (2 girls and 2 boys), this time to the Alpine School Campus at Dinner Plain in the Victorian Alps. We are pleased to announce the successful Year 9 applicants: Sian O Connor, Isabella Strathairn, Damien Chapman and Thomas Fueggle. We would also like to acknowledge the many excellent applications we received. It was a difficult decision and we appreciate that so many year 9 students took the time and put in the effort to apply. Congratulations particularly to those who reached the interview stage. Shani Vander-Young School for Student Leadership Coordinator SCIENCE NEWS Year 7 s had a fantastic time solving some horrific crimes during the forensic incursion last week. It was a fantastic day and as always our students behaved extremely well. However, I didn t realise that there were that many suspicious characters amongst our Year 7 students. Ms Miller 5

Sport News Congratulations to all the Year 7 boys and girls teams who competed in their first competition at the Yarra Division Volleyball day on April 28th.
