MIAMI EAST LOCAL SCHOOLS BOARD BITS Review of February 21, 2017 Regular Board Meeting Brandon Fellers, board president, called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., held in room 116 in the Lecture Hall at Miami East High School. The country was honored by the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call was taken with board members Kevin Accurso, Mark Davis, John Demmitt, Brandon Fellers, and Mark Iiames in attendance. Also in attendance were: Janet Stevens, staff member; Brian Rohrer, elementary principal; and Kelsey Kirchner, student. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments heard. GOOD NEWS RECOGNITION/INORMATION REPORT: Our Miami East Athletic Department continues to partner with Side Effects, a sports marketing company from Franklin, Ohio. Side Effects collaborates with businesses in our local community to support this project. Our scrolling table holds 15 industry exclusive advertisers. This top of the line equipment was obtained at no cost to the taxpayers or school district. The Miami East Athletic Department would like to thank Side Effects for providing the scrolling scorer's table, and to all of the businesses that continue to support Miami East. The minutes of the re-organizational/budget/business board meeting of January 09, 2017, as presented. 2. Recommend approval of the financial statements for January, 2017. 3. Treasurer s then and now 412 certifications, as presented. 4. Account modifications, as presented. 5. Estimated Resources/Appropriations modifications: Increase estimated resources- High School Project Bond Retirement fund 002 by $2,070.27 Increase estimated resources- Band Student Activities fund 200 by $150 Increase estimated resources- Art Club Student Activities fund 200 by $6,000 Increase estimated resources- Class of 2019 Student Activities fund 200 by $1,000 Increase estimated resources- High School Principal s fund 018 by $5,000 Increase appropriations- High School Principal s fund 018 by $8,000 Increase appropriations- Class of 2016 fund 200-9316 by $1,058.17 Increase appropriations- Class of 2018 fund 200-9318 by $13,000 Increase appropriations- Class of 2019 fund 200-9319 by $1,000 6. Recommend approval of return of advances, effective January 25, 2017, in the amounts of $71,078.91, $10,909.41, and $4,494.71 from the FY2017 IDEA-B fund 516, the FY2017 Title I fund 572, and the FY2017 Title II-A fund 590, respectively, to the general fund. 7. Recommend approval of the January 2017 wrestling tournament reports and the associated expenditures including payroll time sheet expenditures, as presented. B. Treasurer s Report to the Board/Regular Agenda Items 1. Kevin Accurso moved and John Demmitt seconded motion to approve cash donations as follows: $750.00 from the Ohio FFA Foundation for a grant to the Miami East FFA program $47.00 from a parent to the Junior High Principal s fund $26.05 from the Kula Foundation to the High School Principal s fund $340.00 from Sroufe s Painting to the JH Athletic program for wrestling singlets

SUPERINTENDENT S REPORT: NEW BUSINESS: A. EMPLOYMENT ITEMS: 1. John Demmitt moved and Mark Iiames seconded the motion to approve hiring Linda Deaton as Technology Support Specialist, Step 11, for the 2016-2017 school year, effective February 13, 2017. 2. Mark Iiames moved and Kevin Accurso seconded motion to approve hiring Amy Hall as the high school secretary, Step 1, for the 2016-2017 school year, effective February 15, 2017. 3. Mark Davis moved and John Demmitt seconded motion to approve an unpaid leave of absence for the following employee: Megan Noll February 17 & 21, 2017 (2 total days) 4. Kevin Accurso moved and Mark Iiames seconded motion to approve Kalyn Hollatz s request for FMLA Leave beginning May 15, 2017. 5. 6. Kevin Accurso moved and Mark Davis seconded the motion of approval of substitute teachers who have been approved by the Miami County Educational Service Center and are on file in the central office. These are all on an as needed basis for the 2016-2017 school year. The board-approved rate of pay has been set at $80.00 per day through 10 th consecutive day and $85.00 per day from 11 th day through 60 days in the same position, then placed on beginning salary schedule 7. John Demmitt moved and Kevin Accurso seconded the motion of approval of Melody May on an as needed basis to transport special education students, step 12, effective 8-23-2016 8. Mark Iiames moved and Kevin Accurso seconded the motion of approval of Renee Woodward on an as needed basis to transport special education students, at $12.21per hour, effective 8-23-2016 B. MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN MIAMI EAST BOARD OF EDUCATION AND MIAMI EAST ASSOCIATION OF SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS Mark Davis moved and Mark Iiames seconded motion to approve the MOU regarding a vacancy for a classroom aide position until May of 2017 as it pertains to Section 7.01.
