Post-degree diploma (PDD) programs are designed for students who possess a bachelor s degree and who want to enhance and broaden their professional skills. The programs provide a specialized credential for practical application that augments employment opportunities. These postbaccalaureate programs will be valuable to domestic students wishing to upgrade their qualifications, as well as to international students who wish to come to Canada to further their studies in a concentrated format. Post-Degree Diploma in Business Administration PROGRAM INTAKES: SEPTEMBER, JANUARY, OR MAY This two-year program is targeted towards students who wish to pursue a career in business administration. The PDD-BA, with its emphasis on applied learning, brings real-world experience into the curriculum. Students will gain a global perspective and work comfortably with people of different cultures. They will also develop critical thinking and conflict resolution skills, as well as negotiation and project management abilities. Graduates will be able to use international management principles and practices and apply them in a global business environment. The program consists of three semesters of in-class studies plus an experiential work term. This program will be offered in the daytime, during weekdays. ADVANCED OPTION: PROJECT MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATE Students have the option to add an Advanced Project Management certificate to their program. Post-Degree Diploma in Marketing Management PROGRAM INTAKES: SEPTEMBER, JANUARY, OR MAY This two-year program is for students who wish to supplement their undergraduate education with industry-relevant business skills that employers are looking for. Students will develop critical thinking and analytical skills that can be applied across a global business environment. The PDD-MM is a two-year program designed to lay a solid foundation of business knowledge during the first two terms, and then to build upon it with specialized marketing courses in the third term of course work. The final term is an experiential work term. Applicants must have a bachelor s degree from a recognized college or university. Post-Degree Diploma in Accounting PROGRAM INTAKES: SEPTEMBER, JANUARY, OR MAY The Post-Degree Diploma in Accounting appeals to students who already have a degree, but require specialized accounting and business courses in order to pursue a professional accounting career and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in Canada. The program meets the requirements for entry level education of the Chartered Professional Accountants Professional Education Program (PEP). Once they have completed additional CPA requirements, graduates can expect to work in public practice, industry, and government. Students in the program will learn through a mix of classroom lectures, guest speakers, and applied learning opportunities. There will be a high degree of interaction between instructors and students. Applicants must have a bachelor s degree from a recognized college or university. Continuing Studies Post-Degree Diploma in Supply Chain and Logistics PROGRAM INTAKES: SEPTEMBER OR JANUARY Effective supply chain management is critical to the success of many organizations that operate in international markets. Manufacturers, service providers, and suppliers must carefully manage their resources, operations, and transportation flows to meet the needs of customers. Langara College Continuing Studies offers a two-year, full-time Post- Degree Diploma program that prepares university and college graduates for careers in this rising global industry. The program consists of 21 required courses (ranging from 18-50 hours per course), offered on weekdays and evenings. The final term is an unpaid experiential work term. OTHER DESIGNATIONS Graduates will also obtain Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) Certificate accreditation. Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation equivalencies are accepted for certain courses in this program (see website for details). Successful completion of a 3- or 4-year accredited Bachelor s degree from a recognized university or college. Students must demonstrate English-language proficiency. Post-Degree Diploma in Applied Planning PROGRAM INTAKE: SEPTEMBER This 12-month intensive program is designed for students with an undergraduate degree or equivalent. Applied Planning students share a passion and motivation for contributing to better and more livable communities and a more sustainable future. Courses emphasize team-based learning and introduce students to case studies, practical projects, and a range of skills necessary for the practicing planner. Graduates of this program find work with planning organizations including local and regional government, consulting firms, and First Nations. Students can successfully complete all courses over three terms (12 months). There is an optional experiential work term that includes additional course work (please visit the website for details). Most Applied Planning courses are scheduled in the evenings to enable students to work in addition to pursuing their studies. Post-Degree Diploma in Web and Mobile App Design and Development PROGRAM INTAKE: SEPTEMBER OR JANUARY This two-year post-baccalaureate diploma program will focus on web and mobile app design and development, from concept to deployment. The program will encompass visual aesthetics (including typography, colour theory, and graphics), client and server programming, user experience design, and project management. Students will choose to enter the designer or developer stream of the program when they apply, although they can change their focus up until the third term. Students will collaborate on several major projects, as well as creating real-world applications, developing digital portfolios, and building industry connections. At the end of the program students will possess the specialized design and development skills the industry is looking for. Intake for this two-year program is in the fall term. Students will complete four academic terms, then have the opportunity to participate in an optional experiential work term. Applicants must successfully complete a bachelor s degree from a recognized college or university. Post-Degree Certificate in Nursing Leadership and Management PROGRAM INTAKE: SEPTEMBER OR JANUARY This one-year program is designed for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) to enhance their leadership and management skills and to support their preparation for eligibility and application for nurse licensure in Canada and Canadian nursing practice. The program focuses on critical thinking, clinical judgement and decision making, verbal and written communication, and cultural safety as applied within the health care setting. Students will learn in the classroom and online, as well as in Langara s Nursing Simulation Centre. The program includes active learning and a variety of evaluation methodologies with an emphasis on entry-topractice competencies and standards of practice, including nursing leadership and management skills. The program is offered over one academic year, which is eight months of full-time study. Students will achieve learning outcomes through theoretical and practice skills course content. With the successful completion of the Nursing Leadership and Management Post-Degree Certificate (PDC) program, students are eligible to apply for the one-year Diversity and Inclusion in Leadership PDC program. Students admitted to this post-degree certificate program must have: An accredited four-year degree or a three-year diploma from a university or college that is recognized by the nursing authority outside of Canada where the student obtained a nursing license/ registration. English Proficiency - IELTS 6.5 overall score with no band less than 6.0, or equivalent. Certificate in Journalism PROGRAM INTAKE: SEPTEMBER This program provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary for entry-level jobs in journalism, communications, and public relations, whether in print, broadcasting, or online. The program emphasizes strong writing skills the necessary groundwork for careers in all sectors. This certificate program is designed to give students with a university degree the opportunity to take specialized training at high speed. This intensive, skills-oriented experience is designed to build on the student s academic background, providing our graduates with the tools to work as well-informed journalists or communications professionals. The first semester focuses on introductory and basic skills courses; the second semester on advanced journalism practices. A Certificate in Journalism is awarded for successful completion of the two-term certificate stream. The department provides an option for students to do internships with local media or communications departments in December and April, with faculty playing the lead roll in finding placements. A university degree in a field judged by the Journalism Department to be useful for journalism. Persons lacking a degree but with substantial academic achievement combined with a demonstrated interest or limited experience in journalism may be admitted by permission of the Journalism Department. A high level of achievement in English and/or writing in students previous academic works. Successful completion of the Journalism Program entrance test that includes sections on English language usage, current events, and news writing. A résumé. A minimum 500-word typed statement of intent indicating why you want to be a journalist and your career goals. An interview with journalism faculty may be required.
