When you are done with MXL, you need to keep studying!!!! To do so, from the chapter 7 handout, starting at the end of the handout: o solve the VIDEO PROBLEMS the solutions are on the videos section of my website o Solve the Review for quadratic functions o Solve the review for chapters 3, 6, and 7 o In class we are solving this handout moving forward!

Tuesday 11/10/15 We had a quiz on adding and subtracting polynomials 6.1 We went over the handout on chapter 7 that was due today We solved one problem from the new handout. if you missed class, go to my website quadratics page. Assignment After Test 3 Quadratic Functions - all DUE NEXT CLASS On the assignment after Test 3 document, pages 3 and 4 are due on Thursday 11/12 In class we solved the first problem about a ball on the Quadratic Functions all document. COMPLETE THIS PROBLEM for next class. Tuesday 11/3/15 We started chapter 6 If you were absent and you emailed me, I emailed you the problems done and the notes from class. Check your email. If you did not email me, I did not send you the notes. Thursday test chapter 5 assignment in mathxl due before next class also due, the work corresponding to that assignment. Tuesday 10/27 We reviewed for the test Thursday 10/29 exam 3 chapter 5 The test will be similar to exam 2 plus algebraic process to solve exponential equations plus stories involving exponential functions base e. There will be some mathxl assignments on chapter 6 due at midnight of Monday 11/3 their average will be recorded as a quiz if not done = 0 in a quiz TUESDAY 10/20/15 We continued working with the word problems listed on the handout that you got last Thursday about logarithmic functions. Work in mathxl and keep solving the word problems of the handout. Study for a quiz - story problem to use logarithms to solve an exponential equation. Please, don t miss classes! Or if you do, let me know ASAP Thursday 10/8/15 we completed some more problems about half-life complete MXL

Complete all the problems we did not do in class today. if you did not come to class, check the solution-documents in my website math 093 exponential and logarithmic page scroll down to the end TO CHECK THE NOTES FOR THE DAY EXAM 2 EXPONENTIAL FUNCTIONS Tuesday 10/13 I will not be in class on the 13 th o professor Hopkins will be the sub for the 8 am class o professor Rose will be the sub for the 9:30 am class o COME ON TIME tests will end promptly at the ending time of class. o check the listing of question-types in the study guide for chapter 4 o study all the handouts from class o TEST IS ONLY ABOUT WORD PROBLEMS AND WE HAVE DONE CLOSE TO 40 PROBLEMS! RE DO THEM AND CHECK ANSWERS IN MY WEBSITE Next class you will get an assignment which is due on Thursday October 15 th. Tuesday 10/6/15 we learned to interpret the coefficient a and the base b of an exponential function we learned about half-life complete MXL Complete all the problems we did not do in class today. if you did not come to class, check the solution-documents in my website EXAM 2 EXPONENTIAL FUNCTIONS Tuesday 10/13 I will not be in class on the 13 th o professor Hopkins will be the sub for the 8 am class o professor Rose will be the sub for the 9:30 am class o COME ON TIME tests will end promptly at the ending time of class. o check the listing of question-types in the study guide for chapter 4 Thursday 10/1/15 Covered o graphical approach o compound interest solve all the problems in our handout through 22 finish with mxl Tuesday 10/13 is our second test I am putting the notes available in my website exponential page bottom row study for a quiz on compound interest Tuesday 9/29/15 We learned to find the equation of an exponential function going through two points, one of them being the y- intercept. in today s handout, we did problems 7-10 DUE NEXT CLASS on another paper, do problems 11 and 12. Create a table containing two points that satisfy the story. Label the variables in context; use algebra to construct the function; write the function and label the variables. WE STARTED with the BALD EAGLE PAIRS we did a, b, and c. DUE NEXT CLASS do parts (e) and (g) of the BEP problem We learned QUADREG

QUIZ NEXT CLASS: find the equation of an exponential function going through two points, one of them being the y-intercept. (10 minutes at the beginning of class.) I am putting the notes available in my website exponential page Tuesday 9/22 exam day chapters 1 and 2 you got a paper assignment and some MXL HWK due Thursday. Thursday 9/17 we reviewed for exam 1 Did you finish with MXL? It s all open to study I have posted the NOTES from class in my website LINEAR FUNCTIONS page AT THE END of the page. Come early to the test and bring your calculator!!! EXAM 1 CHAPTERS 1 AND 2 TUESDAY 9/22 Tuesday 9/15/15 we learned to calculate residuals We completed problems 22 and 23 of the last handout Complete problem 24, and problems 1, 7 and 8 at the end of the same handout answers are given at the end of the document We have covered all material of chapters 1 and 2 o Test on chapters 1 and 2 is Tuesday 22 nd o Go over the study guide (on the first handout) it lists all the topics that will be covered in the test. Complete all mathxl assignments on Thursday 9/17 we will have a quiz on o Finding the equation of a line going through two points using algebra o Calculating residuals IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU STUDY BEFORE COMING TO CLASS. IF YOU DON T UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL, THERE IS PLENTY OF HELP AVAILABLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. IF YOU WANT TO PASS THE CLASS YOU NEED TO STUDY ON A DAILY BASIS AND KEEP UP WITH THE MATERIAL otherwise, you are fooling yourself. There is no magic about this; it s just plain hard-work! Thursday 9/10/15 I gave out a take home-quiz which is due on 9/15 We covered linear regression finding equation of line using the calculator. o If you missed class, you need to cover this go to the math science center, my office or Friday s tutoring session to learn this. TUESDAY 9/15 quiz on o Use algebra to produce the linear model using two points (learned last week) o Use the calculator to find the linear model that fits the data (done today) Complete all the MXL assignments that are due on 9/14 o If you are done, work on the word problems of the class handout that I gave you on the first day of classes (the one I gave you today has many things that we have not covered yet.

o You can also solve the VIDEO PROBLEMS that are in my website LINEAR FUNCTIONS page If you need accommodations due to religious holidays YOU MUST COME TO MY OFFICE to let me know of all the dates that you will be absent. Tuesday 9/8 Had a quiz Covered function notation Quiz next class: function notation Bring the TI83/84 calculator no calculator = 0 in a quiz o We will learn a procedure that requires many steps with the calculator, if you don t have it, it will complicate the learning of the process on your own.
