UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI (FOR MORE DETAILS, PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE at http://jobs.uonbi.ac.ke) APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS:- SENIOR LECTURER (ENVIRONMENTAL LAW), CENTRE FOR ADVANCED STUDIES IN ENVIRONMENTAL LAW AND POLICY (CASESLAP) - 1 POST- AC/10/371/12- (R&T)- RE-ADVERTISEMENT Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree with specialization in Natural Resources Law or Environmental Law from a recognized university with at least three (3) years of research and teaching experience especially at postgraduate level. The qualifying candidate for the Senior Lecturer position must have published a minimum of four (4) publications in refereed journals or chapters in scholarly books since appointment as lecturer. In addition, the candidate must have supervised at least three (3) Masters students to completion. It will be an added advantage if the candidate has supervised a Ph.D. thesis to completion. The applicant s research and publication should show areas of special expertise such as environmental jurisprudence, climate change law, land use law, water resource law, legal issues in protection of biological diversity, international environmental law, physical planning law, etc. etc. The successful candidate will be required to teach and supervise diverse postgraduate students in environmental law including giving guidance in research and thesis writing. Besides, the successful candidate will participate in progressive development of the curriculum for postgraduate diploma, masters and Ph.D. programmes in environmental law policy and diplomacy. He/She will also be required to develop themes and conduct scholarly research as well as consultancies in their areas of specialization within CASELAP framework. Preference will be given to team workers who will engage in institution building activities at level of CASELAP, College and university. LECTURER (CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY), DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY -1 POST- AC/10/372/12 (CHS) Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in Clinical Psychology from a recognized university. Besides skills in Psychotherapy, applicants should also be competent in administering psychometric tests, statistics, clinical assessment and qualification of clinical neuro- psychopathology. They should have research experience, with at least two (2) publications in refereed journals or two chapters in scholarly books. They should show evidence of continuing research activity. The successful candidates will be expected to teach and supervise at both undergraduate and postgraduate students and undertake research in their areas of specialization. They are also expected to offer clinical services at the Kenyatta National Hospital and Mathari Hospital and participate in clinical teaching. 1

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in Recourses Economics. He/she will also be assigned other departmental; faculty and college responsibilities. QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER (PROGRAMMES - ASSISTANT REGISTRAR LEVEL), DIRECTORATE OF QUALITY ASSURANCE UNIT - 1 POST- AC/10/378/12- (R&T) Applicants should be holders of a Master s degree in Education, Social Science Research, or a related field, and demonstrated competence in quality management systems with 6 or more years of experience in educational research, teaching, measurement and evaluation. They must be members of a recognized professional body. They should have a comprehensive knowledge of academic assessment and excellent analytical, writing, presentation, and project management skills and ability to work with identified performance measures as well as ability to work broadly with academic programmes that cover humanities, social sciences, and professional programmes. The successful candidate will be required to be analytical, precision driven with inclination to pay attention to details and have excellent written and oral communication skills. QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER (PROGRAME DELIVERY- ASSISTANT REGISTRAR LEVEL), DIRECTORATE OF QUALITY ASSURANCE UNIT - 1 POST- AC/10/379/12- (R&T) Applicants should be holders of a Master s degree in Management related field, Social Science Research and demonstrated competence in quality management systems with at least six (6) years of experience in educational research, teaching, measurement and evaluation. They must be members of a recognized professional body. They should be enthusiastic team players with demonstrable experience in quality assurance within higher education. They must be analytical, precision driven with inclination to pay attention to details and have excellent written and oral communication skills. The position requires a comprehensive knowledge of how to develop measure and optimize quality systems processes in higher education operations. The successful candidate will be expected to have familiarity with statistical software, Microsoft Office, and other presentation software in order to be able to prepare quality performance reports and presentations. SENIOR TRAVEL OFFICER GRADE EF, UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI BUSINESS CENTRE- AD/10/380/12- (R&T) Applicants should be holders of at least a Bachelor s degree in travel & Tourism Management or its equivalent. They must be computer literate with hands on experience in Galileo and Amadeus reservation systems. They must have excellent interpersonal, communication and administrative skills, capacity o work under tight deadlines in a multidisciplinary environment. They must have at least three (3) years experience in hotel, international and national fight booking, visa and passport applications as well as other travel related support. 3

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:- Manage travel and hotel bookings/ issuance of tickets Keep track of all requests and re confirmations Implement innovative service delivery on modern ticketing systems Negotiate fares with airlines Produce and submit periodic and annual reports Evaluate the performance of airlines/hotels Initiate policies aimed at improving the management of travel office. HALLS OFFICER GRADE EF -5 POSTS- HALLS DEPARTMENT-AD/10/381/12- (SWA) Applicants should be holders of a Bachelors degree or equivalent and a postgraduate training in Institutional Management or equivalent. They must have at least three years working experience as Assistant halls Officer Grade C/D or equivalent position. They must be computer literate. The successful candidates will be deployed in any of the eleven (11) operating Strategic Management Units (SMU) within the Student Welfare Authority. Duties include ensuring effective and efficient processing of accommodation issues within the Halls of Residence. The position requires an officer who can work in a challenging environment and also work at odd hours CATERING OFFICER GRADE DEF CATERING DEPARTMENT-3 POSTS- AD/10/382/12- (SWA) Applicants should be holders of Higher Diploma in Institutional or Hotel Management or its equivalent from a reputable institution. They must have 6 years institutional management or hotel experience. The successful candidate must possess relevant computer skills, be a person of high integrity, mature and have good public relations. In addition they must have ability to supervise staff and capacity to work for long hours under pressure. In addition they must have passed the following subjects offered by the Kenya National Examinations Council or equivalent examining body:- 4

They should have knowledge of Anti-virus Tools. PROOF READER GRADE CD, DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL STUDIES- 2 POSTS -AD/10/384/12- (CEES) Applicants should be holders of at least a KCSE C with credits in both English and Kiswahili languages. They must have relevant Bachelor s degree (Second Class honours) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized university. They should be computer literate. The successful candidate will be expected to proof-read materials in the Printing Section of the Department. HEAD COOK GRADE BC -6 POSTS- CATERING DEPARTMENT-AD/10/385/12- (SWA) Applicants should be holder of KCSE certificate or equivalent. They must have a Diploma in Food Production from a reputable institution. They must have 5 years working experience in a reputable institution or hotel. They should have ability to prepare a variety of dishes, organize staff and work with minimum supervision. SECRETARY GRADE B, DIRECTORATE OF QUALITY ASSURANCE UNIT - AD/10/386/12-1 POST -(R&T) Applicants should be holders of at least a KCSE C or KCE Div. III or an equivalent qualification with a credit in English Language. They must also possess an Ordinary Diploma in Printing Technology or Machine Printing or its equivalent from a recognized institution. They must have at least three (3) years working experience in a busy printing firm and be familiar with printing machines, plates, films, inks and their supplies and pre- press machines. They should be computer literate. The successful candidate will be expected to work with minimum supervision to operate printing machines and to ensure regular maintenance of printing machines. TECHNOLOGIST GRADE ABC, SUB- DEPARTMENT OF FRENCH-1 POST- AD/10/389/12- (CHSS) Applicants should be holders of at least a KCSE C with credits in b relevant subjects. They must also possess a Diploma in Information Technology from a recognized institution. They must have at least three (3) years relevant working experience in a busy office 6

The successful candidate will be expected to manage and maintain both software and hardware of a French Language Laboratory equipped with computers and a smart board as well as other IT equipment within the Sub- Department. He/she will also be required to assist students and lecturers with the use of the equipment. Good interpersonal relations, experience in dealing with students, Lectures ands well as knowledge of the French Language will be an added advantage. ASSISTANT SECRETARY GRADE A- 1 POST- STUDENTS WELFARE AUTHORITY- AD/10/390/12- (SWA) Applicants should be holders of KCSE Grade C certificate or its equivalent qualifications with a credit in English Language. They must in addition have passed the following subjects offered by KNEC or equivalent examining body: Business English II Commerce II Secretarial duties II Office Management III Shorthand (80wpm) Typewriting (50 wpm) Must be computer literate. Those who have served in Hospitality Industry will have an added advantage. The position requires a person who can work in a challenging environment and also work at odd hours. DRIVER /SENIOR MESSENGER GRADE III, DIRECTORATE OF QUALITY ASSURANCE UNIT -AD/10/391/12-1 POST -(R&T) Applicants should be holders of at least a KCSE level of education or equivalent, have a clean valid driving license classes ABCE and PSV, passed in Occupational Test Grade III and have a certificate in First Aid from a recognized instituion. They must have at least three (3) years satisfactory previous driving experience after obtaining license. They must have considerable messengerial working experience in a busy office. DRIVER GRADE III, TRANSPORT& GARAGE SECTION -7 POSTS- AD/10/392/12- (R&T) Applicants should be holders of at least a KCSE level of education or equivalent, have a clean valid driving license classes ABCE and PSV, passed in Occupational Test Grade III and have a certificate in First Aid from a recognized instituion. They must have at least three (3) years satisfactory previous driving experience after obtaining license. Those who have Defensive Driving Certificate from Automobile Association of Kenya (AA) or equivalent will have an added advantage CLEANER GRADE II, DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY & PHARMACOGNOSY- 1 POST AD/10/393/12- (CHS) Applicants must be holders of at least a KCSE certificate or its equivalent. They must have at least five years working experience in relevant offices. They must have a good school leaving certificate and a good reference letter from current Section Head.
