Com in the Applied Science College, Cheemeni / Pattuvam/ Koothuparamba/ Manjeswaram/ Neruvambram affiliated to Kannur University 13-14 The INSTITUTE OF HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT (IHRD) is a Government of Kerala undertaking. Established mainly for the development of manpower in the field of Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology and allied areas. With a view to provide advanced skills in the above fields, the institute offers Post Graduate Course in Computer Science, Electronics & Commerce in the Cheemeni/ Pattuvam/ Koothuparamba/ Manjeswaram/ Neruvambram during the academic year 13-14. The above courses are on a semester basis spread over a period of 2 years under Kannur University. The scheme and syllabus for the courses will be as followed in the Kannur University. 1. 3.ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION 3 1. MSc Computer Science BSc Degree in Computer Science or BCA or any other BSc Degree with Mathematics as one of the subject of this University or any other Degree of other University/institution recognized by this University as equivalent thereto with CGPA not less than 2.33(for general category), 2.23(for OBC category), 2.17 (for OEC category) and 1.87 (for SC/ST category) in the qualifying examination. The students must be secured overall grade point of 2 for core courses excluding complementary exemption will be given for SC/ST/OEC students as per University rules. 2. MSc Electronics A candidate who has passed BSc Degree in Electronics (semester or non-semester), BSc Physics, BSc Computer Science (semester or non-semester) of this University or any other Degree of other University/institution recognized by this University as equivalent thereto with CGPA not less than 2.33(for general category), 2.23(for OBC category), 2.17 (for OEC category) and 1.87 (for SC/ST category) in the qualifying examination. The students must be secured overall grade point of 2 for core courses excluding complementary exemption will be given for SC/ST/OEC students as per University rules. 3. M Com A candidate who has passed B Com Degree (semester or non-semester), of this University or any other University/institution recognized by this University as equivalent thereto with CGPA not less than 2.33(for general category), 2.23(for OBC category), 2.17 (for OEC category) and 1.87 (for SC/ST category) in the qualifying examination. The students must be secured overall grade point of 2 for core courses excluding complementary exemption will be given for SC/ST/OEC students as per University rules. 4. RESERVATION For reservation of seats the norms fixed by the Kannur University shall be followed. 5. ADMISSION Selection of candidates for interview for admission will be on the basis of the information furnished by them in the application form. A copy of the mark list and Degree Certificate of the qualifying examination duly attested by a Gazetted Officer should be attached with the application form. Candidates who do not furnish a copy of the mark list and degree certificate of the qualifying examination along with the application form will not be considered for selection. 6. HOW TO APPLY Application forms and prospectus can be obtained on cash payment from the institution as detailed in Para 2 above, on payment of Rs.300/-(Rs.150/- for SC/ST Candidates) 16.07.13. The applications for admission to the MSc course will not be accepted at the IHRD Head Quarters, Thiruvanathapuram. Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted on any account. Note:1. The cost of application form and registration fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstance. 2. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. EDUCATIONAL CONCESSION No educational concession will be available to the students of the M Sc/ M Com for the courses conducted by the IHRD except for SC/ST/OEC candidates. The SC/ST/OEC candidates are exempted from payment of prescribed fee on the condition that they will submit application for educational concession from the concerned Department in the prescribed form along with supporting documents within 15 days from the date of commencement or regular classes. If they fail to do so, they should pay the prescribed fee. In case the educational concession is not sanctioned by the concerned Department, the students is liable to remit the entire fee. Sanctioning of educational concession is also subject to the orders of the concerned Department from time to time.

6 9. The candidate shall produce the following documents at the time of interview for admission. 1. Originals of Degree Certificate, TC, Conduct Certificate and Mark list of qualifying examination. 2. Originals of Community and Other certificate to claim reservation/bonus/weightage, if applicable. 10. GENERAL (i) Receipt of application will be acknowledged, allotting a register number. The registration number as shown in the receipt should be mentioned in all future correspondence connected with admission. ii) Selection of candidates will be made by the Principals concerned, based on the information furnished in the application. iii) The selection for admission will be provisional subject to verification of original documents and eligibility, by the Head of Institute. If on verification any information given in the application is found to be false, the candidate will forfeit his/her claim for admission. iv) The list of candidates called for interview will be published in the institution. Individual memo will also be sent. v) The candidates called for interview should bring the originals of all the Certificates on the dates specified at their own expense. vi) A candidate who does not turn up for the interview as per the schedule at the place and time will forfeit his/her chance for admission and will not be considered for any future vacancies for admission irrespective of the rank secured. However, if a candidate is not able to attend the interview on genuine grounds, the parent/guardian or any authorized person can act as a proxy at the risk of the candidate. vii) The candidate seeking admission to the course will have to abide by the campus rules and regulations issued from time to time. The campus rules now in force in the institutions under IHRD are reproduced below: 1. Smoking is strictly prohibited within the campus. Students are advised to desist, from the habit of smoking altogether, as it is well known that smoking is injurious to health. 2. As a matter of general discipline, students are prohibited from loitering or crowding on the veranda, sitting on the parapet wall, making noise in the vicinity of other classes etc. 3. Students are requested to co-operate to maintain the building and the campus clean and spotless, as well as to keep the furniture, laboratory equipment and other institute properties without loss or damage. This is a collective responsibility of the students. 4. Late entry to classrooms or Labs/workshops will not be allowed, 5. The identity card issued by the institute must be prominently displayed on the chest by each student. Mere possession of the card is not enough. 6. Directions of the Principal and other staff in respect of academic matters and general discipline must be strictly complied with by all students. 7. Leave of absence will be granted only on medical grounds. However, such leave will be considered only for the purpose of granting condonation of shortage of attendance. 8. Duty leave will be granted only for the work/activity directly connected with the institute. 9. Use of motorized vehicles by students inside the campus is strictly prohibited. In any case, no personal conveyance other than bicycle will be allowed within the campus.

7 11. PROHIBITION OF RAGGING RAGGING IS A COGNISABLE OFFENCE AND PUNISHABLE UNDER PROVISION OF KERALA PROHIBITION OF RAGGING ACT 1998. The institution will take stern action against the offenders. The cardinal points contained in the Act are furnished below for information of the concerned. 11.1 Short title and extent (i) The Act may be called the Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act 1998. (ii) It extends to the whole of the State of Kerala 11.2 Definition Ragging means display of disorderly conduct, doing any act which causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological harm or raise apprehension or fear or shame or embarrassment to a student in any educational institution and includes,- (a) Teasing, abusing of, playing practical jokes on or causing hurt to such student; (b) Asking the student to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course willingly do. 11.3 Prohibition of ragging Ragging within or without any educational institution is prohibited. 11.4 Penalty for ragging Whoever directly or indirectly commits, participates in, abets or propagates ragging within, or without, any educational institution, shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extent to two years and shall also be liable to a fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees. 11.5 Dismissal of student Any student convicted of an offence under section 4 shall also be dismissed from the educational institution and such student shall not be admitted in any other educational institution for a period of three years from the date of order of such dismissal. 11.6 Suspension of student (1) Whenever any student or, as the case may be, the parents or guardian or a teacher of an educational institution complains, in writing, of ragging to the Head of the educational institution, the head of that educational institution shall, without prejudice to the foregoing provisions, within seven days of the receipt of the complaint, enquire in to the matter mentioned in the complaint and, it, prima facie, it is found true, suspend the student who is accused of the offence, and shall, immediately, forward the complaint to the Police station having jurisdiction over the area in which educational institution is situated for further action. (2) Where, on enquiry by the Head of the educational institution, it is proved that there is no substance prima facie in the complaint received under sub-section (1), he shall intimate the fact, in writing to the complaint.

8 Copy of the Prohibition of Ragging Act 1998 will be available in the institution for reference. i) The applicant as well as his/her parent/guardian is required to furnish declaration on the awareness of the provision of the Act in the Application form. ii) Any other details not specifically covered by this prospectus will be decided by the undersigned and such decisions shall be final. 12. RULES FOR THE ISSUE OF TRANSFER CERTIFICATE. The Issue of Transfer certificate& other documents to the students admitted to Degree course conducted at the Applied Science Colleges under IHRD will be as per the following rules. a) If a student applies for TC before the commencement of first semester classes, the TC and other documents will be issued with a refund of 90% of Tuition fee & Special fee paid at the time of admission. All other fees paid at the time of admission are non-refundable. b) If a student applies for TC during the period from date of commencement of classes and date of closure of admission(both days inclusive & irrespective of whether the student has attended any classes or not), TC and other documents will be issued only after clearing the fee dues for first semester, if any. All the fees paid at the time of admission are non-refundable. c) If a student applies for TC during first year of study after the closure of admission and before the commencement of third semester classes (irrespective of whether the student has attended any classes or not), he/she is required to remit the entire course fee for the current semester and next one semester for the issue of TC and other documents. d) If a student applies for TC after the commencement of third semester classes (irrespective of whether the student has attended any classes or not), he/she is required to remit the entire course fee for all the remaining semesters of the course for the issue of TC and other documents. e) In case of Inter College transfer between CAS under IHRD within the same University and course, TC will be issued on payment of Rs. 00/- towards processing fee.
