UNIVERSITY ARTICULATION 1
ARTICULATION OVERVIEW BCA National Training Group (BCA National) is a Registered Training Organisation offering quality training in business, community services, sport development, education, finance, governance, and training and assessment. We aim to inspire and develop capability in organisations and individuals, and are particularly experienced in remote and rural delivery. From our offices in Sydney and Darwin, we have delivered training in over 55 locations across Australia. The company is committed to the idea that knowledge creates a future for individuals, communities and organisations. Through flexible, blended and client focused delivery models, BCA National prepares people with the skills, knowledge and confidence to compete in an international job market. Through our programs, we can offer opportunities to adults who are ready for a new start or have undertaken minimal previous study and are ready to learn. Our programs seek to introduce people to learning progressively. We build competencies as people become aware of the limitations of not knowing about a topic or not having a skill. Learning for us is a direct contribution to business effectiveness, personal achievement and life satisfaction. BCA National aims to be recognised as a national benchmark provider of quality training programs customised to the needs of clients and to the professional development needs of individuals. We work in partnership with organisations to ensure that the training meets their requirements and expectations. This year BCA National received delegation status from ASQA recognising our commitment to quality and complaint training, as such we are now able to manage our own scope of registration. We were also the inaugural winner of the ACPET Training Provider of the Year award and were runner up in the NT Training Awards, 2014. 1
CURRENT ARTICULATION AGREEMENTS BCA National has agreements with Australian universities for our qualifications to articulate into undergraduate bachelor degrees. We are also in negotiations with other universities to expand this offering. Upon successful application to university, students who have completed certain diploma and advanced diploma qualifications will have their BCA National studies recognised as equivalent to a certain number of credit points. This can equate to up to a full year off the regular degree completion time. Please note: BCA National cannot guarantee students a place in a university intake - the university s regular mature age application processes apply. Students should contact their Training Coordinator and ask about how they can take the next step to tertiary education We are in the process of re-negotiating our agreements to reflect the new qualifications BSB51915 Diploma of Leadership and Management (updated from Diploma of Management) and FNS50215 Diploma of Accounting (updated code). Our Diploma programs are delivered over 12 months and are usually face to face delivery although we are expanding our online offerings and we have the Diploma of Leadership and Management offered face to face and online. All our Diploma programs are considered full time with Centrelink and students are expected to attend a minimum of 80% of the face to face training days and spend considerable time outside the classroom on research tasks as well as work placement components in some cases e.g. Diploma of Community Services, Diploma of Child Youth and Family Intervention and Diploma of Education Support. Our programs utilise various forms of assessment short answer, research and essay, group work and presentations. Each unit of competency is thoroughly mapped to performance criteria, elements, required skills and knowledge (or performance and knowledge evidence) as per the requirements from www.training.gov.au Our Diploma of Community Services and Diploma of Child Youth and Family Intervention programs use customised text book resources that have been developed by BCA National s instructional design team. This type of text enables students to prepare for the type of reading and referencing used at university level. All BCA National Trainers and assessors must be suitably qualified in both training and assessment and in their chosen vocational field. BCA National requires trainers to evidence their experience both as a trainer and assessor and as an industry expert in their chosen field. This is achieved through a trainer verification process which maps skills, knowledge and experiences to the units of competency in BCA National s qualifications. To train with BCA National trainers must also gain vocational qualifications which are equivalent or higher to the ones they are delivering. In addition, BCA National requires that all trainers and assessors hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. 2
