EXHIBITION PROPOSAL
OVERVIEW Thank you for your interest in exhibiting at Provincetown Art Association and Museum! To be considered for a solo or group exhibition at PAAM, you must submit an application to the PAAM Exhibition Committee. Applications are reviewed twice annually in June and October and are due on June 1 or October 1. All applicants will be contacted directly by the committee with the results. REQUIRED MATERIALS - Exhibition application (next page). - Resumes and biographies for the artist(s) and curators. - Statement from the artist(s) if living. - Digital portraits of all artists and curators. - 8-10 color prints of work samples AND a CD with digital copies (you may include additional images on the CD). Must include at least two high resolution images of work that will be included in the exhibition if approved. - Budget proposal: funding for catalogues, loan fees, photography, shipping, etc. (if applicable). * APPLICATION MUST INCLUDE ALL ABOVE MATERIALS TO BE CONSIDERED. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE BROUGHT TO COMMITTEE. OPTIONAL MATERIALS - Reviews of artwork or previous exhibitions including artist(s) and/or curator(s). - Previous exhibition catalogues. CURATOR ELIGIBILITY - Applications MUST be submitted by the proposed exhibition curator. - Curators must not be the artist(s) featured in the exhibition. - Curators must not be family members of the featured artist(s). - Curators must not be a commercial gallery/ist representing the featured artist(s). ARTIST ELIGIBILITY - The curator(s) must demonstrate a connection between the artist(s) and/or their artwork to Provincetown or Cape Cod, whether in the subject matter of the artwork or the history of the artist. EXHIBITING AT PAAM - Scheduling exhibitions is done at the discretion of the Exhibition Committee and PAAM s Executive Director. In most cases, exhibitions are scheduled 3-4 years in advance and are highly competitive. - Exhibition Curators are responsible for the installation of their exhibitions with support from PAAM staff. - With the exception of installations, artists who are the subject of the exhibition may not be present during the installation. - PAAM is responsible for insuring the artworks during the run of the exhibition. - PAAM will host an opening reception and supply marketing support. - PAAM is NOT responsible for funding a catalogue or covering curatorial expenses.
