I. Overview Workshop Summary This intensive single track workshop consists of invited talks and laboratory tours. The workshop covers the synthesis, functionalization, characterization, modeling, post processing, and application of carbon nanostructured materials and devices. The goal of the workshop is to benchmark the current state of the art and develop plans to make breakthroughs in engineering materials and devices based on nanotechnology. The electronic, thermal, and mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes and spun thread are of particular interest. Applications of nanotechnology and industry needs will be discussed along with strategies for commercializing nanotechnology. The workshop will provide opportunities to establish cooperative research and to intersect different ideas in order to break down barriers in nanotechnology. There is no individual registration fee. Registration as a sponsor of the workshop is $500 and provides an advertisement in the workshop proceedings and advertisement at the workshop. We ask that no confidential information be presented at the workshop. There is no taping or recording of the presentations. To register for the workshop, please complete the online registration form or register in person at the workshop. The workshop is held this year in the Great Hall of the Tangeman Center Great Hall 2014 Nanotechnology Materials and Devices Workshop Guidebook Page 3

Recommend parking locations are the Green Garage, Woodside Garage, or Corry Garage. The parking fee is ten dollars and should be paid by the participants. For those who would prefer to arrive the night before the workshop, the recommend hotel is the Kingsgate Conference Center Marriott located on the east (medical) campus of the University of Cincinnati. The Marriot will reserve rooms for conference attendees at a reduced rate. Please see later sections of this guidebook for more detailed information. Posters Attendees interested in displaying a poster may do so without charge. Posters should have a backing, be self-standing and must be set up before the conference begins. Posters will be placed on display in the back of the conference hall. Those who wish to display a poster must note so on their registration form so a poster stand can be provided. Fliers and advertising material may be displayed by registering as a sponsor. Proceedings Workshop proceedings containing powerpoint presentations and photographs from the workshop will be published electronically. The powerpoint presentations will consist of full or abbreviated versions of all talks, absent of confidential information. The proceedings will be available at no charge to attendees and to nonattendees for a small charge. The proceedings are expected to be published in late March. At that time an email will be sent to all attendees with instructions on how to download the proceedings.
