Relaxation in minimum marks will be allowed for SC and ST candidates as per rules. The admission is only to the 50% Management seats by the University. Admission is purely on merit i.e., on the basis of marks obtained in the Higher Secondary Examination. The merit seats of these courses are filled by Government through Centralized allotment by LBS in separate notification. CENTRE FOR HEALTH SCIENCEs UNIVERSITY OF CALICUT FOUR YEAR B. Sc. PARAMEDICAL COURSES 1. INTRODUCTION PROSPECTUS 2016 2017 The Centre for Health Sciences, University of Calicut has been established in 1996 with the aim of providing quality education and training in various disciplines of Paramedical Sciences. The Institution is developed as a self-financing institution without any government financial assistance and the expenses for infrastructure development as well as the conduct of courses are to be met from various fee collected from the students. The Centre has separate laboratories for Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pathology. The Library is well equipped with more than four thousand books including three hundred reference books. An Alumni Association (Reg. No. 362/2013) has been constituted with the aim of developing the academic and professional activities of present and passed out students. As part of the curriculum the students of this centre are being given clinical training in well established hospitals and clinical laboratories. 2. COURSES OFFERED Sl. Relaxation in minimum marks for eligibility allowed by the Government of Kerala to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes shall be made. 4. ADMISSION Admission to B. Sc. Medical Microbiology, Medical Biochemistry and Medical Laboratory Technology courses in the University management seats is purely on merit i.e., on
the basis of marks obtained in the Higher Secondary Examination. The merit seats of these courses are being filled by Government through centralized allotment by LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram in separate notification. Any seats remain vacant in Merit quota will be filled from the list prepared by the University for Management quota in tune with the prescribed time limit. 5. HOW TO APPLY (University Management seats) i. Applications are to be submitted online through the official website of University of Calicut (http://www.universityofcalicut.info). ii. Signed print out of self attested applications bearing passport size photograph along with the original chalan receipt for having remitted the fee of Rs.300/- (Rs.100/- for SC/ST candidates on the basis of valid community certificate issued by the competent authority) to Calicut University Fund through the SBT e-payment and self attested copies of certificates as proof of qualifications, age and community should be forwarded to: The Director, Centre for Health Sciences, University of Calicut, Calicut University P.O., Malappuram (Dt) - 673 635 6. Fees once remitted will not be refunded under any circumstances. Caution deposit will be refunded after the completion of course. Fee should be remitted by way of e-payment system. 7. GENERAL (i) (ii) (iii) Application in the prescribed form in original only is acceptable. Candidates need to submit only one application for B.Sc. Medical Microbiology, Medical Biochemistry and Medical Laboratory Technology courses (indicating the order of preference). Only self attested photocopies of the mark lists, certificates and other documents need be sent along with the application. 2
(iv) (v) (vi) Candidates should appear for the interview at their own expenses. Candidates should bring the originals of the certificates/ mark lists at the time of interview/ admission. The fact that a candidate has been called for interview does not confer on him/her any claim for selection. The admission list will be provisional and subject to confirmation by the University. (vii) The University will not be responsible for non-receipt or late receipt of applications, interview memo and other correspondence regarding admission. (viii) If any candidate who is provisionally selected, fails to report on the specified time and date, his/her selection stands automatically cancelled without any further communication. (ix) Dealing with fraudulent information: Admission to the courses is purely provisional and if any anomaly/fraud is detected at any later stage in the mark list or certificate produced by the candidate his/her admission will be automatically cancelled and he/she will be removed from the roll and appropriate legal action will be initiated by the University against such candidates. (x) Agreement: All students are required to sign an agreement with University/Institution to the effect that they shall be liable to abide by the rules and regulations framed by the University/Institution in connection with the conduct of the courses time to time. CONDITION FOR THE DISCONTINUATION OF THE COURSES a) Before the commencement of the course: The admission fee remitted by the student will not be refunded on any grounds. The tuition fees remitted by the students will be refunded after deducting an amount of Rs.1000/- as processing charges, provided the seat so vacated is filled up by another student so that the University does not incur any loss. b) Discontinuation during the course: i. In the case of discontinuation after joining the course, and if the seat consequently falling vacant has been filled up by another candidate by the last date of admission, the tuition fee will be refunded with proportionate deduction, in addition to the deduction of an handling charge of Rs.1,000/- ii. iii. After the closure of the admission, the fee already paid will not be refunded. But the fee for the remaining semesters will not be collected. The TC and documents kept in the Office will be returned. If the total number of students admitted falls below the sanctioned strength, the fee already paid will not be refunded.
