Gradesheet Basics (USAF) G/TIMS Gradebooks, or training jackets, are integral sets of gradesheets generated by specific syllabi. The core function of the gradebook application is to document and review student performance. This Quick Guide provides an overview of the TIMS gradebook application. Gradesheet Interface Overview 4 The gradesheet screen is comprised of five panels or areas:. Gradebook Navigator. Gradesheet Grid. Gradesheet Details 4. Gradebook Gradesheet Toolbars 5. Gradebook Statuses Panel 5 Accessing Gradebooks Gradebooks are accessed from three locations in the TIMS Browser:. Schedule notifications on the browser calendar. Links in the Tasks grid. The Gradebook / Training Jacket button in the Results menu We will now review the methods for accessing gradesheets.
Browser Calendar Double-click an event block on the browser calendar. The gradesheet appears. Tasks Grid Click the pending gradesheets link on the Tasks grid. The gradesheet appears. Results Menu The Gradebook / Training Jacket button provides additional options for reviewing previous or upcoming training. Click Gradebook / Training Jacket. The Open Gradebook window appears.
Tip The Pending panel displays all gradesheets that the instructor is required to complete. Click a row containing the student s name and training event. Click OK. The gradesheet opens. Gradebook Tabs Click Find Gradebook. Tip The Find Gradebook tab allows supervisors to locate student gradebooks by last name and organization. T Click Find Gradesheet. Tip The Find Gradesheet tab is the most efficient method for supervisors to access gradesheets that they did not, or are not, slated to grade.
Enter all or part of the Last Name. 4 Click Find. The search results display. 4 5 Click the row containing the desired student s name and syllabus. Note: The event list displayed depends upon the selected student. 6 Select a gradesheet. Note: Each row in the list indicates the status of the gradesheet, including: Scheduled Opted Submitted Draft New 7 Click OK. The gradesheet opens. 5 6 7 4
Gradebook Navigator The Gradebook Navigator provides an overview of the student s progression through the syllabus. It includes five subsections:. Gradebooks. Recent Gradesheets. Opted Gradesheets 4. Pending Gradesheets 5. Draft Gradesheets Gradebooks list completed and inprogress syllabi. The active syllabus is displayed at the top of the list. Tip 4 A closed book icon indicates that training has been concluded for that syllabus. Recent Gradesheets display a list of events that all instructors have recently submitted for the student. Opted Gradesheets list events for which the student has completed all of the prerequisites. Pending Gradesheets list all scheduled events. Draft Gradesheets list draft gradesheets that must be submitted or resubmitted. T4 4 5 5
Gradesheet Grid The Gradesheet Grid displays completed prerequisite events and the maneuver item grid. The Student Status and Event Status bars display crucial information concerning student status, scheduling, and event submission for this gradesheet. Under optimal conditions, the Student Status bar is blue, which means the student s status does not preclude him or her from completing the event. Under optimal syllabus conditions, the Event Status bar is purple, which means the event is both opted and scheduled. Colors/statuses that may be displayed on the Student Status bar include: Blue optimal color, indicates the student is cleared for the event Red sub-optimal color, may indicate the student has a status that precludes him or her from completing the event Colors/statuses that may be displayed on the Event Status bar include: Purple optimal color, indicates the event is both opted and scheduled Light blue indicates the event is opted but not scheduled Grey indicates the event is not opted and not scheduled 6
Tip 5 Click the Additional Info bar to display syllabus, class, and organization information. T5 T6 Tip 6 Click the Event Notes bar to display syllabus information regarding the event. Completed events relevant to the open gradesheet are displayed in order above the maneuver items history grid. To view any of these gradesheets, click the event name header. Maneuver item rows and cells may be highlighted in shades of red and yellow to provide instructors with situational awareness regarding the student s performance. Maneuver items are graded by clicking cells in the appropriate grade column. Tip 7 Click Ungraded > Standard to mark all ungraded required items to MIF. Include comments for a maneuver item by: Entering text in the Comment field Clicking the Comment ellipsis to open the Item Comment window. 7
Tip 9 Copy and paste information from the Objectives / CTS panel as a first step in creating Comments. Tip 0 Click Check spelling. T9 T0 Gradesheet Details For the Gradesheet Details tab, key inputs include: Completion status Overall Grade (a required input) Tip If a flight record is associated with a training event, the Training Data grid will set the event s overall status automatically. The flight record can be accessed by clicking the document number link. T 8
Flight and simulator events may require an overall comment, which are entered on the Comments tab. All additional documentation for the event may be added on the Docs tab. Toolbar Buttons Several toolbar buttons that provide core functionality within the gradesheet application include:.save Draft saves all inputs but does not submit the gradesheet.. Submit saves the gradesheet as part of the student s official training record..assign Task allows instructors to notify supervisors of completed gradesheets. 4. Emergency Procedures allows instructors to document the completion of EPs. 5. Special Syllabus Requirements allows instructors to document the completion of SSRs. 6. Writeups opens the write-up interface, covered in the video of the same title. 7. Clone Event opens the interface used to create additional attempts for any syllabus event. Gradebook Statuses Panel The Gradebook Statuses panel contains the Messages and Syllabus Flow tabs. The Messages tab provides real-time information regarding required inputs or errors for the current gradesheet. These must be addressed or corrected before the gradesheet can be submitted. The Syllabus Flow tab displays the syllabus flowchart of all events, including prerequisites. Double-click an event to navigate to the associated gradesheet. Tip Right-click events to view details about them.
