Dear CE 2 I Applicant: Thank you for your interest in Roy G. Perry College of Engineering Enhancement Institute (CE 2 I). CE 2 I is an innovative and intensive summer bridge- to- college program designed to prepare students for the rigors of an Engineering, Computer Science, or Technology Curriculum and to also aid in the transition between high school and college. The institute is a five- week residential program, where participants will complete coursework in Math, Science, and Technology as well as participate in a series of Professional Development activities. CE 2 I is specifically designed for incoming freshman admitted to the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering at Prairie View A&M University only, who are interested in taking the necessary steps to jumpstart their academic career. Program participants will have the opportunity to: Complete six (6) hours of college level coursework Become familiar with chemistry, physics and computing concepts; Participate in professional development, personal and social activities Network with faculty, staff, and administrators Because the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering is dedicated to the academic success of our students, the college will cover the majority of the cost associated with participating in the CE 2 I program less a non- refundable $250.00 institute fee. The College will cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, housing, meals and professional development activities associated with participating in CE 2 I. Program participants will be responsible for paying the required University College housing deposit, if they would like to remain a resident in University College for the 2017/2018 academic year. If you are interested in participating in the College of Engineering Enhancement Institute (CE 2 I), please complete the enclosed application packet 1

and return all documents by May 31, 2018. Please remember there is limited space available in the program, and slots are filled on first come, first serve basis. Frequently Asked Questions How much does it cost to participate in the College of Engineering Enhancement Institute (CE 2 I)? There is a nominal fee of $250.00 to participate in the Institute. The Roy G. Perry College of Engineering covers each participant s summer tuition and fees, textbooks, housing, and meals (all on- campus meals will be provided). Participants will be responsible for paying the required University College housing deposit, if they plan to reside on campus for the academic year. What is the minimum grade point average or SAT/ACT score required of students who are selected to participate in the College of Engineering Enhancement Institute (CE 2 I)? The selection criterion for CE 2 I is in accordance with the admission criteria of PVAMU into Engineering, Computer Science or Technology each housed in the College of Engineering. Admission criteria for Engineering, Computer Science and Technology majors can be found online at www.pvamu.edu. When does CE 2 I begin? CE 2 I will begin officially i n J u l y 2018 and end August 2018, although logistics may require an earlier report date and a later closing date (generally 1-2 days). What classes will I take as a College of Engineering Enhancement Institute participant? Participants will be required to take College Algebra/Trigonometry (MATH 1115) and Introduction to Engineering (ELEG 1011). Do I get to decide which 2 courses I would like to take? No, the courses have been pre - selected by the program. Students should be eligible to enroll in MATH 1115 based on TSI status. 3

Will I be able to work on- campus or off- campus while I am participating in the College of Engineering Enhancement Institute? You cannot work on- campus or off- campus while participating in this program. I have a family reunion, family trip and/or doctor s appointment scheduled while I am participating in the CE 2 I program. Can I take off to attend? No. The CE 2 I program is an accelerated academic summer program. Missing one day is equivalent to missing a week of school. All students must attend every day of all scheduled classes. If you have upcoming appointments, please reschedule for a date when you are not participating in the College of Engineering Enhancement Institute. Can my family and friends living in and around Prairie View visit me during the week or on the weekend? No. To ensure the safety of all program participants, we ask that you inform your family and friends not to visit during the week or over the weekend. Can I go home on the weekend or am I required to stay? You are not allowed to travel home on the weekend. Weekend activities will be provided for all participants in the summer program. Can I bring my cellphone with me while I am participating in the College of Engineering Enhancement Institute? Yes, but there are rules that govern cellphone usage while you are participating in program related activities. You are not allowed to use your cellphone in class, during mandatory study, workshop presentations or when you are in the library. While, we are aware that some students study to music or use their cellphone to look for information while studying. Unfortunately, you will not be allowed to do this while participating in the College of Engineering Institute. If you violate the cellphone usage policy, you may be required to your cellphone home at your expense. 4
