Position title Assistant Principal Incumbent(s) Open Department Senior High Reports to (Title) Senior High Principal FLSA Status Exempt Non-exempt _ x_ Full time Part-time % Position overview: The assistant principal serves as an educational leader, and in partnership with the Senior High Principal is responsible for creating and sustaining an excellent Catholic, college preparatory positive teaching and learning environment for all students and faculty. Includes establishing and promoting high standards and expectations for all faculty and students, with an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement. The Assistant Principal is largely responsible for student discipline, which includes maintaining peace and order during the school day. Primary Duties: The Assistant Principal assists the Senior High Principal in the day to day operations of the school. Duties include providing leadership and supervision of student discipline for grades 9 and 10, including maintaining positive partnerships with parents. Position also includes oversight of school safety and security related to student life. In partnership with the Senior High Principal, duties also include providing instructional leadership for the senior high faculty. Student Discipline Provide leadership for student discipline related to students in grades 11 and 12. In collaboration with the other Assistant Principal, maintain an accurate and relevant senior high student handbook. Provide leadership and supervision for all student assemblies during the school day, keeping peace and order. Provide leadership for assigned evening and weekend school events. In collaboration with the Athletic Director, provide leadership and supervision for athletic events as assigned. Monitor and respond to the Bully Hotline. Conduct investigations into student discipline issues as needed. Student Life and Chemical Health Oversee the drug dog visits to campus. Coordinate services provided by the Chemical Health Coordinator. Conduct SEARCH Institute survey as scheduled and provide leadership in using the results to meet student needs. 1 of 3
Student Life and Growth. Cultivate and sustain a positive, safe learning environment for all students. Serve as a member of the student support team. Oversee the student leadership activities such as Student Council, NHS, Link Crew. Student Safety and Security Oversee the Crisis Management plan related to student life. Oversee ALICE training, which includes running drills and providing communication to students, faculty, staff and parents related to school safety. Work in collaboration with the St. Louis Park school liaison officer on matters related to school safety and security. Personnel Responsibilities and Professional Development Assist in developing and executing a program for professional development for teaching that aligns with the school s mission and strategic plan goals. Perform annual performance evaluations for all persons who report directly to the assistant principal. Formally observe selected members of the faculty and provide written feedback annually. Assist in development and oversight of the Ongoing Professional Growth model for all faculty each year. Interpersonal skills 1. Strong positive verbal and written communication skills. 2.
