Esher Church of England High School National Teaching School More Lane Esher Surrey KT10 8AP July 2012 Telephone: 01372 468068 Facsimile: 01372 471058 E-mail:headteacher@esherhigh.surrey.sch.uk Website: www.esherhigh.surrey.sch.uk Headteacher: Mr S T Morris Dear Applicant, Re: Social Inclusion and Child Protection Officer 36 hours a week, term time plus one week Grade SP8 annual pro rata salary 22,511-26,934 Thank you very much for requesting details for the post of Social Inclusion and Child Protection Officer at Esher Church of England High School. Esher High is an 11 16 mixed Voluntary Controlled School. We currently have approximately 1050 students and following discussions with the Local Authority will be increasing from a seven form entry to an eight form entry school by 2014. We are a very popular school and this is reflected in the fact that we are significantly oversubscribed. The 2011 examination results were record breaking with the best ever percentage of students gaining 5+A*-C including English and Maths at 60%. 2011 also saw the highest number of students gaining 3+ A*/A grades. Our contextual value added score places us within the top 25% of schools nationally. The results show that there has been significant and sustained improvement over the last six years. In September 2011, Esher High was delighted to be designated a National Teaching School. The school was one of only 100 schools in England to be granted this status. We aim to further raise standards in teaching and learning by providing high quality training and development through a network of strategic partners, bringing real benefits to all students. We pride ourselves on achieving success. We have Specialist College status in the Performing Arts and gained HPSS in September 2009. As a result, our second specialism is as a Leadership Partner School and a Lead School for Gifted and Talented students. This reflects an ambitious and forward thinking school. We hold the Gold Arts Mark and the Investors in People award. We have a stated goal of being the best non-selective school in Surrey and have made major strides in fulfilling that ambition. The Ofsted inspection, in November 2009, judged us as Outstanding.

We are very proud of our achievements as a school. We have moved a very long way in a very short period of time, which has been both incredibly exciting but also challenging. As a school we are now at the phase of ensuring progress is sustainable and that everything we do is of the highest quality. Esher Church of England High School has the potential to be the best in Surrey and we are looking for someone who shares that ambition and wants to join a team who will realise our vision. The successful candidate will be a person who is keen to make a positive difference in both raising standards and achievement. The closing date for receipt of applications is Midday on Monday 16 July 2012. We look forward to receiving your application as soon as possible. Yours sincerely Bridget Lye Personnel Manager
