The centerpiece of the course is an intensive, field- - - based, hands- - - on workshop where all concepts are applied. Course Objectives After completing this 3- - - credit course, students will be able to: Analyze entrepreneurial trends and opportunities. Put innovation and design concepts into action as evidenced by their participation in creating a business plan. Evaluate plans for financial management of a business. Some local offices offer counseling to small business owners through SCORE or the SBDC system. www.eonetwork.org: Entrepreneurs Organization provides learning and networking opportunities worldwide for young entrepreneurs. www.zeromillion.com: This site, run by Zero to One Million author Ryan Allis, provides resources for young entrepreneurs, a networking list of contacts called The Entrepreneurship Directory, discussion forums, and links to articles and courses. Discuss your results with a partner or small group. Assignments: Have a conversation with a friend or relative. Ask this person to tell you about which things he or she finds frustrating in the area/neighborhood. Write down these complaints. Step 1: Generate at least three business opportunities from this conversation. Step 2: Use the checklists in ecourseware to evaluate your three business ideas as opportunities. Step 3: Choose the best of the business opportunities and write a SWOT analysis for it. Step 4: Use the analysis to explain why you would or would not actually start it. Submit your work to the appropriate dropbox folder. Use ideas supported by your textbook or other reliable source. Post by Wednesday of this week and provide feedback/suggestions to at least two other classmates' posts by Sunday. Assignment: Choose a corporation that has been involved in an ethical scandal and research it online. (Enter corporate and scandal into a search engine.) Present this story to the class. Describe the lessons you learned as an entrepreneur from researching this event. Assignment: Finalize Business Plan Review each section and organize into one flowing document as outlined in the examples and directions in ecourseware. 5

Revise any weak areas and add detail where needed. Compose the Executive Summary. Create your presentation using the criteria provided. Practice as a group! 14 EXAM Due Business Plan Group Presentations Exam: Identify your three (3) best/most useful AHA s! Each AHA! will be approximately 500 words in length, and the final 1500- - - word paper will be uploaded as a Microsoft Word document (.doc or.docx) to the Dropbox on the published due date.
