PROSPECTUS AND INFORMATION BROCHURE Tezpur Educational Society : Registration No : RS/SPR/242/A/28 of 2002-03 Tezpur Educational Society is a voluntary Association form by some teachers and other professionals with the sole aim of improving and enhancing education in and around Tezpur. It is a nonprofit making secular body. Tezpur Science Academy is a unit of the Tezpur Educational Society established for the purpose of improving the quality of Higher Secondary Education. SALIENT FEATURES LOCATION : Located in a rural atmosphere in an urban area suitable for academic activities. The place is well connected by all weather black top roads. SPACE : Ample space for both science and arts streams. New Building Ground floor : Two sprawling galleries. 1

Old Building : library and for holding classes of the Arts stream POWER, WATER AND SANITARY FACILITIES Generator backed power supply, running water and the modern sanitary facilities can be the envy of most educational institutions in the state. FACULTY AT SCIENCE ACADEMY Exceptionally brilliant and experienced faculty with most of them having B.Ed. degrees and proficient in computer application, take care of the students with dedications. This being a nonprofit making institution the management has been making all efforts to make the teachers satisfied as much as possible. OUR RESULTS The results of our students in the H.S. Final Examination from the first batch of our students to the last batch (2016) is shown in the table below for your perusal. We hope you would be satisfied with the performances. 3

HELP TO NEEDY STUDENTS: We have been providing free education to a few economically backward brilliant students every year from the year of inception of the College. ABOUT DISCIPLINE IN THE COLLEGE We expect our students to be disciplined and accordingly we take all possible steps to enforce it in and outside the College. In this respect we want our guardians to be more active and vigilant such that their wards can become good human beings in future. The use of mobile phones in the College is strictly prohibited. We hope the guardians will appreciate this step and would take appropriate measures in this direction. Accordingly mobile phones once taken away from any student inside the College campus by any authorized person will not be returned to him/her till the completion of the H.S. final examination. However, we assure the students and the guardians that College land phone or any mobile phone will be made available to them for use in case of emergency. The use of motor bikes, scooters etc by the students is discouraged for obvious reasons. However, in unavoidable cases the guardians may seek and obtain permission from the authorities for providing such vehicles to their wards for the purpose of coming to the class. The College authority, however, reserves the right to cancel such permission in case of misuse. Ragging of the new comers by the senior students is prohibited and any violation shall be strictly dealt with, even leading to rustication from the College. Other such measures that may be required to be taken in future for maintenance of discipline will be notified for information of the students and guardians. ABOUT CLASSES: Classes in the Academy are held absolutely regularly. Holidays, vacations and cancellation of classes are minimum which enables us to complete the specified syllabus in time. The commencement of the 1 st year classes is dependent on the publication of the results of the HSLC examination by the SEBA. However, we take appropriate steps to expedite admission and start the classes immediately after the publication of the HSLC results. The 2 nd year classes are started from the first week of May as usual. 2 nd year practical classes are started within a fortnight from the date of commencement of the theory classes. The 1 st year practical classes are started within a month or so from the date of commencement of the classes. Classes in Environmental Sciences are conducted with due seriousness and lot of projects are done by the student. 5
SUBJECTS OFFERED The core subjects are English and Modern Indian Languages (MIL). Of the MIL, only Assamese, Alt. English and Bodo are taught in the College. However, students may opt to study any language prescribed by AHSEC as MIL. In that case students will have to make their own arrangements for their studies in these languages. Over and above the core subjects, the students may offer any of the following subject combinations: SCIENCE STREAM: PHYSICS + CHEMISTRY + MATHEMAICS + BIOLOGY PHYSICS + CHEMISTRY + MATHEMATICS + STATISTICS PHYSICS + MATHEMATICS + STATISTICS + ECONOMICS ARTS STREAM ECONOMICS + MATHEMATICS + STATISTICS + SOCIOLOGY EDUCATION + ECONOMICS + POLITICS SCIENCE + SOCIOLOGY ECONOMICS + MATEMATICS + EDUCATION + SOCIOLOGY Of the combinations three subjects are taken as main and the fourth automatically becomes the optional subject. Details about subject combinations may be clarified at the time of admission. APPLICATION FORM Application form, appended to the prospectus is available in the College Office on payment of Rs. 100.00 per form. Same application form shall be used by the Arts students. Please fill up the form and submit it to the College Office with attested copies of Mark sheet of the HSLC or equivalent examination. Admit card issued by the SEBA or any other document specifying the age of the candidate issued by the competent authority in case of other Board / Council. The last date of submission of application form shall be notified at the time of receiving the prospectus. Incomplete applications or application received after the due date may be rejected without giving any information. Classes shall be started immediately after the last date of admission. The date shall be notified. The original documents specified in (1) and (2) above must be produced at the time of admission for verification and return. 6
COLLEGE FINANCE As always we assure total transparency in all financial dealings of the College. The tuition fees (monthly dues) cover 12 (twelve) calendar months from June to May for both 1 st year and 2 nd year H.S. classes. All dues, detailed below, shall have to be paid at the cash counter of the College against receipt issued by the College authority. NOTE: The amount of Rupees 15,000.00 in case of science stream and Rs. 11,600.00 in case of Arts must be paid at the time of admission. The remaining amount of college fees Rs. 15000.00 for the 10 (ten) months (Rs. 1500.00 x 10 = 15,000.00) in case of science and Rs. 12000.00 for the 10 months (Rs. 1200.00 x 10 = 12000.00) in case of Arts stream may be paid monthly or in two equal installments. However, it must be known that all the dues must be cleared before the date of filling up of the examination form for the annual examination in case of 1 st year classes and H.S. final examination in case of students of the 2 nd year classes, failing which such students shall not be allowed to fill up their examination forms. ** Admission fees and other dues once paid shall not be refunded. GENERAL NOTE TO THE GUARDIAN / LOCAL GUARDIAN It must be known that the co-ordinated effort of the guardians and the teachers only can mould the future of the young men and women. The Academy, therefore, desires that the guardians / local guardians keep a close watch of their wards and also keep a constant touch with the authorities of the Academy to satisfy themselves about the progress of their wards and also for discussion / remedial measures as and when necessary. Let us all join our hands together for a bright future of our wards. Dates for terminal examinations and holidays shall be notified. 8
