Library Volunteers Lindsey, Josh and Hager put the mural up in the library. This mural was done by our elementary students. Congratulations to Lindsay Suchy who has been awarded, by Tofield Lion's Club, a trip to the Lion's Waterton Leadership Camp. The camp held in Waterton Lakes National Park, Canada, is dedicated to instilling skills and attitudes of leadership and community service. The camp creates an international community of young leaders, who have great potential to inspire changes around the world. Good luck Lindsay! Textbooks and Library Books Dear Parents, please help our student bring back our textbooks. We have many students not returning their textbooks and we need them back as soon as possible. Teachers have received lists with the name of students and their overdue books. Teachers are in the process of collecting and returning overdue library books. Thank you teacher! BRSD Bus Transportation Notice : Pack it on, Pack it off. The transportation department has reviewed some of our procedures and practices through the lens of what s best for student safety. One very significant risk for students is when they are out of their seats and not protected by the compartmentalization of the energy absorbing seat backs. Often students leave their seats to place garbage in the garbage box. One of the rules that is posted on each bus is that students are to remain seated, and yet the garbage receptacle is inviting students to get up out of their seats to put their trash into it. Many students do this when the bus is stopped at a pick up/drop off location therefore not contravening the rule of not leaving their seats while the bus is in motion. This is, however, the most vulnerable time for the safety of the students who are boarding or disembarking, and it is the time when the driver needs to be totally focused on this process without distraction. In order to address this safety concern, we have made a decision that all garbage boxes will be removed from our school buses. While it is still up to the driver s discretion as to whether or not eating will be allowed on their bus, we now expect that all students who have food or drinks on the bus pack the garbage off with them. We ask that you discuss this change with your children and thank you for supporting our new pack it on, pack it off rule. April Fun Facts It is the second month of spring. It is a time of planting and spring cleaning. Two flowers signify the month of April: the daisy and the sweet pea.
