It's time to start thinking Auction!! The theme for this years auction is the roaring 20 s. The 8th grade Auction will take place on Friday November 3, 2017 at the Palmer Senior Center. Each classroom will be putting together a themed basket for the event. Listed below are the themed baskets that each classroom has picked. All classroom basket items must be turned in to the classroom by October 18, 2017. Also, we will be auctioning off a front row parking spot. This parking spot will be your designated parking spot, this will make certain that you can skip the pick up lines and pull right in to pick up your kiddos. The German Corner: It has become a tradition at Birchtree Charter School to make the lanterns for the Lantern Walk in 4 th grade in German class. The lantern walk is quickly approaching. I will need volunteers to help make lanterns during German class as well as for purchasing materials. Materials: 40 Balloons 12 size (per class) 50 pre-cut paper wrapped wires per class (in the floral section at Jo-Ann s Fabrics) Here are the dates and times I need help in the class room: Monday October 16 and 23 Tuesday Oct 17 and 24 Wednesday Oct 18 and 25 Friday Oct. 20 and 27 11:15 (Morfin) 10:30 (Minor) 11:15 (Morfin) 11:15 (Minor) I need someone to blow up balloons prior to the first class for each grade Please consider volunteering across classes, not only the one your child is in Help in class: help students, hand out materials, hang balloons to dry, clean up This year my 4 th grade is wedged in between two classes with no passing time so we will need all hands on deck to be efficient. Birchtree 2017 Boys and Girls Elementary Basketball All fourth and fifth grade students are welcome to join. Boys basketball starts October 6, 2017; practice are on Tuesdays and Fridays from 3:06pm - 4:35pm at Birchtree. The Boys Jamboree is November 11, 2017. Location TBD. Girls Basketball starts October 9,2017; practice are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:06pm -4:35pm in the Birchtree Gym. The girls Jamboree is November 18,2017. Location TBD. WE ASK THAT ALL PARTICIPANTS BE PICKED UP BY 4:40PM. Participants must have a signed waiver and pay the district-mandated $30.00 activity fee before practice. We are looking forward to working with your children and having a fun season. I would greatly appreciate those pictures. Please submit those photos to Vanessa at Vanessa.becker@matsuk12.us. Volunteer Opportunities: We at Birchtree understand the chaos of life. For a limited time we are offering volunteer opportunities for parents to purchase items. Each $20.00 that you spend is equal to 1 hour of volunteer time. The school is in need of the following items: Kleenex, Sandwich size ziploc bags, gallon size zip lock bags, glue sticks, composition notebooks, loose leaf notebook paper (college ruled and wide ruled needed) pencils, pens, kids scissors, forks, spoons, baby wipes, 3 ring binders (1 and 2 inch), tape dispensers, staplers, and erasers. Please log your hours in the volunteer computer and submit all purchased items to the front office. Thanks! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!! Need weekend volunteer hours? Mrs. Vander Schrier is looking for help from 10:00-12:00 tomorrow (Saturday) to help set up the course for Medieval Games, chainsaw logs at the fire pit, and set up tarps in case it rains. She is also looking for cider donations (5), hot dog buns (ten 8 dog), and station managers for next Friday s games. October 13 th 9:00-3:00 Please let her know if you are interested in helping. After School Activities Attention 4 8 th grade students.: Chess Club is starting! We meet every Wednesday from 3:15 4:15 in Mr. Klauder s room for lessons and games. Permission slips are at the office. You do not need to come every week just come play and learn when you can. You do not need to know how to play we will teach you! I hope to see you there Mr. Klauder It's not too late to join choir! Pick up a sign up sheet from the office and join us: Grades 4-5 meet Wednesday afternoon from 3:10-4:00 p.m. Grades 6-7-8 meet Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 8-8:25. Come sing! The more the merrier!
