Other School News Wearing Correct School Uniform Well done to all students and parents for a great start to the school year. Nearly all students are wearing the correct school uniform every day. Wearing the correct school uniform encourages school pride and self confidence. Especially during Summer, it is important that all students are wearing the blue school hat when outside. Baseball style caps are not acceptable hats whilst at school. Attendance at School The attendance rate for regular attendance at Padbury Primary School for 2014 was 76%. This means we had 76% of our student population attending school better than 90% of the time. Research confirms that to maximize your child s learning successes, they need to attend school 95% of the time. Regular attendance enables children to build upon their knowledge and skills every day. Children who miss out on the basic skills may experience difficulties later on due to gaps in their learning. Regular attendance helps students to develop confidence in areas such as social skills, organisation and teamwork. The law requires students to attend Primary School from Pre-primary to Year 7. Q: What should I do if my child is unwell? A: Inform the school, preferably first thing in the morning. SMS Attendance to 0437 208 493 Q: What should I do if my child refuses to go to school? A: Contact the school as soon as possible and the school will arrange support and advice. Q: What should I do if I am taking a vacation during school time? A: Inform the school of the vacation, however you should try to take holidays during school holiday periods Q: If I receive a letter in the mail with the date of an unexplained absence what should I do? A: Provide an explanation of the absence and return the note to their class teacher. Student Update Information This week, a form is coming home to families through the students for parents to update their contact information. If you have changed your contact numbers, address or person s you wish us to contact in the case of an emergency, please complete the form and send it back to the school office. It is important for us to have up to date information. School banking The school banking program will restart for students on Wednesday 18th February from our school library before school. Thank you again to our wonderful parent volunteer Ms Tarryn Lee for coordinating this wonderful program. Canteen The school canteen will be operating next week. The canteen will be open on Monday s and Thursday s each week offering our students morning recess and lunches. Children order their lunch in the morning at the canteen after 8.40am. School Chaplain Late last year we were notified we were one of the one hundred schools to miss out on chaplaincy funding for 2015. I received a pleasant call through the holidays to say that we were to receive funding for 2015 after a rethink by the government. Mrs Crompton will be returning as our chaplain for one and a half days per week starting this term.

Our First assembly for Term one will be held on Thursday 19th February starting at 9.00am in the undercover area. 13th February 18th February 19th February 27th February P&C Meeting 3.15pm Kindergarten, Pre-Primary Year 1 Teacher/Parent Mtgs Year 2-6 Teacher/ Parent Mtgs Clean Up Australia Day Have you heard about the Padbury P&C?
