Welcome to St Paul's Catholic College It gives us great pleasure to introduce you to our Sixth Form at St Paul s Catholic College. St Paul s has a reputation built on success and on every person achieving their potential. Every student is given outstanding opportunities to learn and develop personally in the Sixth Form. We consistently achieve results in the top 10% of schools nationally at A level. If you are already with us at St Paul s, it is important to realise that life in the Sixth Form is not just 'more of the same'. LEARNING Courses designed to suit you We offer a range of qualifications to suit you: Level 3 Courses AS/A2 - a wide range of subjects are offered at AS and A2 level. Most students take 4 AS courses and follow three of these to A2. BTEC National - BTEC National gives you a qualification equivalent to an AS/A2 level in a particular related field. Level 2 Courses BTEC First Diploma - this is a one year qualification that is aimed at students who have not gained 5 A*-C or equivalent at GCSE. D DAMASCUS 2

Take control of your own learning We provide excellent opportunities for research and study. You will have independent study periods built into your timetable and can study off-site during these times. You will have greater independence and take responsibility for your own learning. SUPPORT Careers, personal and spiritual development This compulsory element of our curriculum will encourage you to develop skills in independent learning, consider issues facing the modern world, prepare applications and interview skills for university or work, and explore your own faith. You will nurture skills such as constructing and deconstructing opinions, empathy, creativity and presentational delivery. Academic mentors Your tutor and academic mentor will meet with you regularly. They will support you during your time at St Paul's and will encourage you to take part in Sixth Form life. Your mentor will advise you on your future plans and encourage you to exceed your target grades and fulfil your potential. V VALLETTA 4

OPPORTUNITIES R ROME Enriching experiences beyond the classroom Your studies at St Paul's will be demanding. However, life will not only be about lessons, lectures, workshops and tutorials. Enrichment afternoons On Wednesday afternoons, we encourage you to get involved in activities such as volunteering, sports, drama, music, Duke of Edinburgh or work experience. Trips & visits Many departments organise trips to complement your studies. These could include day trips, residential visits and international trips to destinations such as Barcelona, New York, Los Angeles and Paris. Volunteering Year 12 students will gain at least 10 hours volunteering during their first year to develop their confidence and show care towards for others. Work experience We will help you explore careers for the future and provide experiences to help inform your decisions. Year 12 students complete a week's work experience near the end of the year. Sixth Form committee Our Sixth Form committee take on leadership roles and represent the interests of our students. The Sixth Form committee organise events including Freshers and the prom. 5
