TRANSFER FROM TO

Introduction For over 150 years, Muhlenberg College has been educating students in the liberal arts tradition. Recognizing a need for evening study in our community, the College began offering adult education courses in 1910. Now, over a century later, the tradition of quality continues. TRANSFER FROM Muhlenberg College Wescoe School of Continuing Education strives to provide lifelong learners the opportunity to continue and enhance their education, and to do so in ways that recognize their experience, maturity, motivation, life circumstances and capacity for independent scholarship. The Wescoe School offers more than 30 programs of study. Students can earn a bachelor s degree in the following majors by taking evening and weekend classes: TO Accounting English International Studies American Studies Finance Political Science Business Administration History Psychology Students can earn a bachelor s degree in the following majors by taking day and evening classes: Art Film Studies Neuroscience Biochemistry Jewish Studies Philosophy Biology Languages, Literature & Cultures Physics Chemistry Mathematics Pre-Professional Programs Computer Science Media & Communication Religion Studies Economics Music Public Health Environmental Science Natural Science Sociology/Anthropology T A B L E O F C O N T E N T S Introduction 1 Transferring Courses 1 Graduation Requirements 2 General Academic Requirements (GARs) 2 NCC GAR Approved Courses 3 In addition to traditional evening programs, the Wescoe School also offers a 22-month Accelerated Degree Completion Program with majors in: Business Administration Information Systems Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Services Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Management Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain Management Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Leadership Please contact a Wescoe School advisor at 484-664-3300 or wescoe@muhlenberg.edu for information about our Accelerated Degree Completion Programs. Transferring Courses If you plan to transfer to Muhlenberg, make an appointment with an advisor as early in your studies as possible. Our academic advisors, all former adult students themselves, are here to help you explore your options and identify the course of study that best suits your academic and career objectives. This handbook provides information useful to students planning to transfer from Northampton Community College to Muhlenberg College Wescoe School of Continuing Education. We strive to make the transition to Muhlenberg as easy as possible for each student. If you have questions or need assistance, call the Wescoe School at 484-664-3300. The Wescoe School accepts transfer courses from similarly accredited community colleges and four year colleges/universities. While an official, sealed transcript will be required for formal transfer of credits, an unofficial transcript or grade report will be useful when you have your initial meeting with a Wescoe advisor. This will allow us to provide you with an understanding of which courses will be approved for transfer and outline an individualized pathway to completion of your degree. In addition to previous college coursework, we can also help identify alternative sources for credit such as CLEP testing, military service/training, and Credit for Prior Learning (as recommended by American Council for Education standards). Released January 2016 v2 1
