POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT (PGDEM) (For Deputy Rectors, Acting Rectors and Rectors/ Principals of Secondary Schools) Minimum Admission Requirement: Potential candidates should be practising in any of the above-mentioned positions. Duration of Course: Two Years (4 semesters) Registration Fee: A fee of Rs 31,000/- for the whole course payable in two equal instalments at the beginning of each academic year (excluding Library and Union fees). 2. BACHELOR OF EDUCATION - (Top-Up) B.Ed (Hons) (For Educators working in Secondary Schools) Business Education (with specialisation in (ii) Design & Technology (iii) Home Economics and Food studies (iv) Mathematics (v) (vi) Art and Design (vii) English (viii) Computer Education (ix) French (x) Physical Education (xi)

Specialised Room/ Laboratory Fee (Yearly): Rs 3,000 (Applicable for Physical Education, Design & Technology, Home Economics and Food Studies, Science and Art and Design) 3. PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATE IN SPECIAL EDUCATION (For Educators or Assistant Educators working in Special Needs schools) Minimum Admission Requirement: Candidates are required to: have studied up to Form 3 and have at least 3 years of proven practice/ experience in SEN sector Or have completed a Foundation Course in Special Education and/or hold a certificate RPL (SEN) Level 3 Note: Applicants should have access to a SEN setting throughout the duration of the programme. Duration of Course: 2 Years (4 semesters) Registration Fee: A total fee of Rs 1,000/- is payable at the beginning of each year (excluding Library and Union fees).

CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (For Managers of Pre-Primary Schools) Minimum Admission Requirements: Teacher s Certificate Pre-Primary/ Teacher s Certificate in Early Childhood Education (ii) Candidates should be Managers registered with the Early Childhood Care and Education Authority (ECCEA) Duration of Course: One-and-a-half Years (3 semesters) Registration Fee: A total fee of Rs 3,000/- is payable at the time of registration. NON-AWARD COURSE 1. FOUNDATION IN SPECIAL EDUCATION (For candidates working in Secondary schools) Entry Requirement: Applicants should be Educators, support personnel or cadres working with children with disabilities and/or Special Education Needs. Duration of Course: 60 hours over 1 year (during school holidays) Registration Fee: A total fee of Rs 1,000/- is payable at the time of registration. General Notes: (a) (b) (c) (d) Online Applications should bear all relevant details as per the stipulated entry requirements since selection will be based solely on information provided online. A School Certificate pass in English Language together with a credit in English Literature or a Higher School Certificate pass in General Paper may be considered as an acceptable alternative to a School Certificate credit in English Language. Qualifications obtained after the closing date will not be considered. Rodriguan candidates applying for the Bachelor of Education (Full-Time) programme are required to make their own arrangements for accommodation in Mauritius to be able to follow the programme.

In exceptional circumstances, students may be required to follow courses from 15 30 hrs to 18 30 hrs during weekdays and on Saturday afternoons. Part-Time courses are run from 15 30 hrs to 18 30 hrs during weekdays and 09 00 hrs to noon on Saturdays. In exceptional circumstances, students may be required to follow courses on Saturday afternoons. The onus for the submission of equivalence of qualification (if applicable) from relevant authorities in Mauritius (TEC or MQA) rests on the candidate. The Post Graduate Certificate in Education and the Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Management programmes may be accredited for future access to a Master s programme. The best qualified candidates will be selected for Full-Time courses. Seniority will be the determining criterion for part-time courses. As such, in-service Educators/ Heads of Schools/ Managers have to prove their experience through testimonial(s) at the time of registration. Courses will be run subject to satisfactory response in the respective fields of study/ programmes. Candidates are required to follow only one course at a time at the MIE. Only successful applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications. The MIE reserves the right not to run any of the above-mentioned courses nor will it assign any reason thereof. Once the application is completed, an Online Declaration Form has to be printed and signed while accepting the Terms and Conditions stipulated for the programme, which should be sent by registered post to the Office of the Registrar, MIE, Réduit, by Wednesday 23 rd May 2018 at 3.00 pm at latest. Applicants who do not have Internet facilities or are unable to apply online should call in person at the MIE, 1 st Floor, Teacher Education Section, during weekdays between 09 00 to noon and 13 00 to 15 00. Facilities will be provided against payment of a nominal fee of Rs 200/- per application. Application not received as indicated above will not be considered.
