Objectives for Leadership Trainees Develop leadership capacity in Maternal and Child Health Participate in interdisciplinary learning experiences with other trainees and faculty Gain a shared understanding of Maternal and Child Health, anchored in a public health, population-based perspective

Guiding Principles of Cultural Competence Training Involves collaboration with community, state and federal agencies; Requires interdisciplinary collaboration among students and faculty; Addresses cultural competence from organization and institutional perspectives; and Frames cultural competence as an essential leadership skill in the field of maternal and child health.
Definition of Cultural Competence UNC MCH Consortium adapted the following definition of Cultural Competence: Cultural Competence is a set of congruent behaviors, attitudes, and policies that come together in a system, agency or those professions to work effectively in crosscultural situations through a dynamic, outgoing, developmental process.
Objective of Cultural Competence Training To prepare MCH leaders who will foster change along the continuum of cultural competence in their future agencies and organizations.
