CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY STATISTICS Among Master s Institutions in the U.S., ranked #11 for number of students on a semester abroad and #12 for number of students on short-term programs 49% of Chapman graduating seniors have completed a global experience. Participation for Semester Abroad: Open Doors, 2015-16, Institute for International Education Between Fall 2016 Summer 2017, 650 Chapman students participated in semester programs, international internships, and travel courses
SEMESTER & ACADEMIC YEAR PROGRAMS Apply 1 year in advance (Spring 2018 for Spring 2019 abroad) ~ 100 program options in over 40 countries Satisfy major, minor, GE, cluster, internship, or electives (including Global Study) Earn Chapman credits and grades, not transfer credit 3.0 cumulative GPA to be eligible Remain enrolled at Chapman University and pay regular Chapman tuition, room, (sometimes) board, and $500 study abroad fee Use Federal/State Aid on all programs, Chapman Aid on 90% of programs! Many scholarships available based on need and merit Free airfare for Prague and Reutlingen!! Use Budget Worksheet for items not covered by Chapman s tuition such as airfare, visas, textbooks, and personal travel

Support Your Students Responsibility of Study Abroad Students build transferable soft-skills before > during > after Before Departure - Student can meet with Academic or Program Advisor to review Program Evaluation for credit requirements and how study abroad can fit within academic plan - Empower student to ask us questions you or they may have - Encourage student to keep organized with deadlines and tasks - Discuss budgeting, communication abroad, mental health, managing their expectations abroad While Abroad - When challenges arise, encourage students to utilize resources there and work toward a solution = transferable skills for life - If visiting, go at end of semester so students maximize full potential of adjusting and navigating a new culture Returning Home - Acknowledging reverse culture shock - Listen to their stories - Utilize returnee resources and events
