WHY STUDY IN POLAND Located at the centre of the Northern European plain, Poland serves as the geographical and cultural crossroads of Eastern and Western Europe. Polish academic traditions reach back to 14th century. The Jagiellonian University in Kraków was established in 1364, as the second university in Central Europe. INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE SCHOOL OF POLAND ILSP is a language school in the central part of Warsaw. We offer a range of programmes with something for all students and professionals. By using a modern curriculum and methodology, the ILSP creates the most effective learning environment. Our lessons provide plenty of opportunities for students to practice and enrich their language such as games, pair-work, group-work, projects. The courses are conducted in 6 levels from Beginners (A1) to Advanced (C2). For those students and professionals whose goals are academic and who wish to study English intensively, the ILSP programmes offer a chance to focus on advanced vocabulary and grammar, listening and speaking skills and other related matters. The level of each participant is carefully examined upon the commencement of the course. Therefore, all our students undergo a placement test and have an oral interview. We conduct lessons both in general and specialised language. Student are provided with the complete set of learning materials and handouts required by the programme of the course. During our courses students acquire the ability to communicate and to express themselves accurately. As they fight back language barriers, they significantly increase their qualifications in terms of international language standards. The learning process in our school is preceded and finished with a qualification test. This makes possible for our students to track their progress. We assess language competence of each student separately in order to adjust our courses to their needs and their level of proficiency. We train to conduct business negotiations in a professional and linguistically correct way. The International Language School of Poland is staffed by a team of qualified, dedicated and experienced teacher-professionals. We guarantee that our teachers are professionally trained in teaching English as a second language. They work very hard to provide interesting and effective language lessons. . LANGUAGE COURSES Language is not an obstacle. ILSP offers flexible courses so that a student can design a study programme to suit one s needs. There is also the opportunity to have even more specialised course through our private lessons. All of our courses begin with assessing your level of English on arriving at the school and defining students strengths and weaknesses. Varied and dynamic classes are based on a syllabus developed by our experienced team of academic professionals. Using a wealth of modern teaching techniques, communicative activities, project work, language analysis and skilled work, the lessons are both enjoyable and extremely rewarding. We offer intensive courses of : English Arabic Russian German Spanish Polish for Foreigners The General English courses cover all aspects of the language and the main focus of the class is to improve the student s communication skills in English through speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Students can additionally chose to add 10 hrs of specialised English course (Business English, Medical English, Legal English, Technical English, English for Media, English for Information Technology, English for Logistics, English for Tourism) 3

EXAM PREPARING COURSES There can be no better proof of success in learning than obtaining an internationally recognised language qualification. ILSP exam preparation courses are designed for students willing to obtain an internationally recognised certificate in English. Our teachers for this course are highly qualified and experienced. Students can choose to do an IELTS exam preparation course if they require a recognised English language qualification for their university or place of work. We provide a four week course which consists of 10 hours of General English & 10 hours of IELTS preparation per week. The course is designed to provide students with the techniques needed to be successful in the exam. The exam takes place at a nearby exam centre. UNIVERSITY PATHWAY & INTERNSHIP The Polish higher education system allows for both state (public) and private (non-public) institutions of higher education. There are two main categories of higher education institution: university-type and nonuniversity institutions (in a university-type HEI at least one unit is authorised to confer the academic degree of doktor, i.e. offers at least one doctoral programme). 1. Access to degree programmes in a higher education institution is open to persons who: hold a secondary-school leaving certificate, if applying for admission to a first-cycle programme or a long-cycle programme, or hold the degree of magister, licencjat, inżynier or an equivalent degree, if applying for admission to a second-cycle programme, and fulfil admission conditions defined by a given higher education institution. 2. Admission conditions and procedures as well as forms of study for each field of study are specified by the senate of a higher education institution. A relevant resolution of the senate should be announced at the institution s web site. 3. Admission to first-cycle programmes and long-cycle programmes is based primarily on results of the secondary-school leaving examination. The senate of a higher education institution specifies, which results of the secondary-school leaving examination provide the basis for admission to degree programmes. The date of enrolment varies according to the institution and branch of study. Foreign students who want to enrol should contact directly the chosen university, its faculty or international relations office, in order to 5
Along with 29 other countries, Poland signed the Bologna Declaration, which aims at the creation of the European Area of Higher Education. The current reforms being made in the Polish Higher Education System follow the Bologna Process recent action lines. We assist our students in gathering all the necessary documents and solving all the formalities while entering the university. For those willing to upgrade their practical skills we assist in starting internship in most prestigious intentional companies and clinics. 6
ADDITIONAL SERVICES AIRPORT PICK-UP If a student books an arrival airport transfer our staff will be waiting for them in the Arrivals Hall of the airport. They will be holding a sign with student s name. Please look for them and do not leave the arrivals area of the airport before locating them. HOUSING All students of ILSP are provided with housing. Our self-catering shared apartments are 20 minutes walk from the school. Each apartment has 2 or 3 bedrooms, a common living area with TV and a fully equipped kitchen. Bed linen and towels are provided for all students. FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL Students are accompanied by our staff on their first day at school. They are asked to do a level test (language and speaking test) to evaluate their level and place in the appropriate class. You will be given a Student Handbook with more details about your course, school and Warsaw city. We advise you to read it carefully as it will give you lots of useful information. SOCIAL PROGRAMME We offer rich social programme for our students. ILSP organises city tours, excursions and trips to the most interesting destinations in Poland and Europe. 7
