Uniform and appearance All students are expected to wear the official college uniform, not only while at school, but also while travelling to and from school. Details of uniform requirements are clearly set out in the uniform requirements section. Any short-term variations to the uniform are to be explained to the class or homeroom teacher with a note from parents. School hats must be worn when students are outdoors. In line with advice from the Cancer Council, the college hat is not required to be worn during the winter months when the winter uniform is being worn. The college hat is always required to be worn with the summer uniform. For health reasons, the school does not provide spare hats. Garments worn under the shirt or dress for added warmth must not be visible. When appearing in public it is expected that students wear their uniform correctly and with pride. All students are expected to own full summer, winter and sports uniforms with the understanding that they may be required to wear these at any times as decided by the Head of School. Make-up (including nail polish) is not to be worn to school. Colourless sunscreen should be used. Jewellery can consist of one pair of plain sleepers or studs in pierced ears. A small cross on a fine necklace inside the uniform is accepted. Boys with pierced ears must wear a clear stud. Hairstyles are to be neat and clean and worn well out of the eyes. Hair longer than shoulder length is to be tied back with hair bands in the appropriate school colours. Extreme hairstyles, excessive use of styling product or colouring are not permitted. The College may occasionally have Free Dress Day when the students are permitted to wear casual clothing. One these days, clothing must be clean and neat without offensive wording, and closed in shoes must be worn. Refer to the above grooming standards as a guide.
