(Part Time) Degree Programmes for the academic year 2014-2015 (December Session) COURSES OF STUDY: The following branches of study will be offered in the Part Time programmes of VIT University, Vellore Campus B.Tech. DEGREE PROGRAMME: Duration 4 years ( 8 semesters ) CIVIL ENGINEERING MECHANICAL ENGINEERING ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING 1. ABOUT THE PROGRAMME The objective of the programme is to enhance the knowledge of working professionals who are basically diploma holders in Engineering and related disciplines, at the same time not affecting their work schedules. The industries that are sponsoring their staff get benefited in such a way that their technical staff acquires a professional degree during their tenure in the respective organizations. Prospective students must be working professionals from industries located nearby, so that they are able to reach the campus before 6.00 p.m. after their working hours. First semester is specially designed for the working professionals and they have to undergo a bridge course. Students have to clear all the four subjects in the First Semester in order to register for other subjects. 2. ELIGIBILITY A pass in one of the recognized Diploma in Engineering / Technology (of 3 years duration) with first Class in the relevant branch of specialization furnished below. Working professional with minimum 2 years of experience is alone eligible to apply. CLASS TIMINGS Classes will be held from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm on all working days (Monday to Saturday). In addition, classes may also be held on Sundays and other holidays at the discretion of the faculty concerned. Candidates seeking admission must satisfy the admission authorities that they will be in a position to attend the classes in the evenings regularly and also on holidays and fulfill the requirements regarding attendance as laid down by the University from time to time. 4. ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT A student shall be required to attend at least 75% of classes in each subject in a Semester. Students who do not have the required attendance are not eligible to appear for the Term End Examination of the Semester and shall be required to repeat the semester. 5. ADMISSION PROCEDURE Admissions are made on the basis of the marks obtained in the Diploma and the Written Test/ Interview to be conducted by VIT on 19.01.2015 (Monday) 2
6. WRITTEN TEST / INTERVIEW Written Test / Interview ( For Civil, Mechanical and EEE) will be conducted on 19.01.2015 (Monday) @ 10.00 am at VIT campus. The Written Test / Interview will test the knowledge at the Diploma Level. Candidate should report in the Examination Centre before 9:00 am without fail. No separate hall ticket or communication will be sent to the candidate for appearing for the Written Test / Interview. The candidates will be permitted to appear for the Written Test/ Interview on the basis of application registered by the candidate. Please bring your driving license or identity card if any, when you are coming for Written Test / Interview. 7. FILLING-UP OF APPLICATION FORM All entries in the application form must be made legible by the candidate in his/her own handwriting. The name should be entered as found in the Diploma Certificate. Change in name/initial, if any, should be supported with Gazette notification. Keep some copies of your passport size and stamp size photographs for future use. 8. DOCUMENTS TO BE SENT ALONG WITH THE APPLICATION FORM The candidates are required to send the attested copies of the following Certificates along with the application form. First page of SSLC Book or Matriculation or its equivalent certificates. (with date of birth) Mark sheets (all appearances) of Diploma or its equivalent examination. Diploma Certificate Transfer Certificate obtained from the Institute last studied. Service Certificate issued by the Employers. (Appointment letters etc.,) The completed application form along with the Demand Draft of ` 500/- should reach the VIT University to the address of Director UG Admissions, VIT University, Vellore-632014, Tamil Nadu, on or before 09.01.2015 (Friday) The classes will commence from 02.02.2015 [Monday] DISCONTINUANCE / WITHDRAWAL FROM THE PROGRAMME: SUBMISSION OF NO DUES CERTIFICATE A candidate who desires to leave the Institute after joining the programme will have to submit a NO DUES Certificate from his / her respective Dean to get back the certificates. This should be accompanied by the application for withdrawal and the original fee receipt. The certificates will be issued only on production of NO DUES Certificate in the prescribed form, obtained from the Admissions Section. 3
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Hostel facility is not available for Part Time students. Even after provisional admission, if any information furnished by the candidate is found to be false, he/she is liable for the forfeiture of the Seat / Degree in the programme and also for the criminal prosecution.
