Higher Education Information for Parents This is our inaugural Careers Fair at Camp Hill and we hope that you will find it useful and enlightening. It is intended to give both you and your son an opportunity to speak to Universities, advisers and employers about the options that they can pursue. We would encourage you to visit a range different universities and providers it is always useful to see all the different options that are available to you. Please do give us your feedback after the event we will use it in the planning similar events in the future. Timings: The Fair is open to parents from 4pm and will finish at 6pm promptly, thus giving our contributors time to travel back. The Layout: We have arranged stands in alphabetical order please see the attached map. Refreshments: The AFS have kindly agreed to sell refreshments in the Dining Hall please do take advantage this. Possible questions: We have provided a suggested list questions that you could ask our contributors just in case you are stuck. Employers: What schemes do you fer? Graduate entry? School leaver? Work experience? Where are workplaces located? Where are jobs advertised? What is involved in the recruitment process? How do you apply? Online? CV? Do you require previous experience? Starting salaries? What are the typical qualifications, skills and values that you look for in potential recruits? What should pupils do to increase their chances being successful in applications to your company? Do you think there will be more or less entry level jobs in your sector in the coming years?

Apprenticeships: What types apprenticeships are available? What companies fer them? How do they tend to be structured? Degree apprenticeships - How long in? What do employers pay for? fees? Accommodation? Travel? Starting salary? Are you tied to that company? How do you apply? Application process? Preparation? What qualifications do you end up with? Progression onto higher qualifications? Universities: Type university? E.g. city? Campus Residence options? Halls? Self-catering? Catered? Average numbers contact hours for courses? Careers support? Library and study facilities. Student support? Extra-curricular activities / student societies? Opportunities for employment during studies? Year in industry courses? Opportunities abroad?
