INDEX TO QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS INTRODUCTION A new examination format has been introduced with effect from September 2016. For the most part, the syllabus content is unchanged from the FA2014 exams. The main change to the format of the examination is the introduction, in a new section B, of three objective test (OT) case questions, each involving five OT questions, based around a common scenario. To compensate, section C will only include three long form questions (instead of five) for 40 marks in total (see Paper Specific Information). In addition, computer-based exams (CBEs) will be available in certain locations in respect of the ACCA Fundamental Skills Level papers (F5 F9) during the examination sittings covered by this exam kit. A paper-based examination will still be available. If you would like further information on sitting a CBE F6 examination please contact either Kaplan or the ACCA. In the paper-based examination, all of the objective test questions in sections A and B will be of multiple choice style. However, CBEs will contain different styles of OT questions in sections A and B as well as multiple choice questions. This exam kit contains some OT question styles which will only appear in a CBE. However, they still provide valuable practice for all students, whichever version of the examination they are entered for. As a result of these changes to the F6 exam format, the majority of past exam questions in their original format are not representative of F6 examination questions going forward. The questions contained in this exam kit are therefore based on past exam questions but it has been necessary to adapt them to ensure that they are representative of questions that could be seen in the examinations from September 2016 onwards. The adaptations have been made to reflect the new style of paper, new legislative changes in recent Finance Acts, Tax law changes and IAS terminology. We have also included new topics brought into the syllabus in some questions. Many of the questions within the kit are past ACCA exam questions, and the more recent questions (from 2005) are labelled as such in the index. Note that if a question within this kit has been adapted or changed in any way from the original version, this is indicated in the end column of the index below with the mark (A). Also included are the marking schemes for past ACCA examination questions to assist you in understanding where marks are earned and the amount of time to spend on particular tasks. Note that if a question has been changed from the original version, it will have also been necessary to change the original ACCA marking scheme. Therefore, if a question is marked as ADAPTED you should assume that this also applies to the marking scheme. The new section B OT case questions, and the majority of the section A OT questions included in this kit have been generated based on the style of questions in the ACCA specimen papers and to provide as broad coverage of the syllabus as possible. The sections A and B questions in the real exam will be two marks each, but some will be slightly longer and some slightly shorter. The questions should take approximately 3.6 minutes each and this will average out over the OT questions in the exam. The majority of the questions in this kit are worth 2 marks. However, some are longer than for tutorial purposes in order to maximise the syllabus coverage. KAPLAN PUBLISHING P.5
