Entrance 10:00 11:00 Interview 12:00 onwards *PhD interview for BAS and FBMED is on 06.07.2017 and FE department is on 07.07.2017 respectively. GENERAL RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR COUNSELLING 1. MERIT LIST AND COUNSELLING a) All admissions will be made through online counselling session(s). b) Second and subsequent round of counselling will be done subject to availability of seats in the respective categories and will be notified on NIFTEM website only. Admission to M. Tech Program (i) The Admission to M. Tech programme will be based on valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering) score and personal interview (30 marks). Merit list will be prepared based on valid GATE score multiplied by 0.07 (70% Weightage 1

of GATE Score) and will be added to marks obtained in the personal interview. The merit list will be displayed on the NIFTEM website. NIFTEM reserves the right to decide a cut off in GATE score. Candidates whose GATE score is more than or equal to cut-off marks, will only be called for interview. (ii) After the admission of eligible GATE qualified candidates, the remaining seats, if any, will be filled by Non- GATE candidates (B.E./B. Tech/B. Sc Agriculture/M. Sc.). Non--GATE candidates would require to qualify the entrance exam (70 marks) followed by interview conducted by NIFTEM at NIFTEM Campus Kundli. NIFTEM reserves the right to decide a cut off marks in entrance exam for non-gate candidates. Candidates whose score is more than or equal to cut-off marks, will only be called for interview. The Non-GATE applicants common entrance exam shall not be conducted, if all seats have been filled by GATE candidates. In that case the claim for refund of application fees shall not be entertained. Admission to PhD program i) NIFTEM shall admit Ph.D. candidates by a two stage process through a qualifying Research Entrance Test (RET) and an Interview conducted at NIFTEM. However candidates who have qualified NET shall be exempted from RET. (a) RET shall be qualifying with qualifying marks as 50%. The syllabus of the RET shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific. (b) An interview/viva-voce to be organized by NIFTEM when the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation/proposal before a duly constituted Interview Panel. The candidates should bring presentation/proposal during the interview. The interview/viva-voce shall also consider the following aspects, viz. whether: (i) The candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research (ii) The research work can be suitably undertaken at NIFTEM (iii) The proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge in the areas related to food sector. Separate department-wise merit lists to be prepared based on the interview performance only. 2

f) An open general merit list and separate merit lists for different categories will be prepared and would be notified on the NIFTEM s website. g) All merit lists uploaded on the website are provisional and do not reserve a right for admission at NIFTEM. Details provided in the application are acceptable subject to verification with originals documents. It is clearly bringing to the notice of all that, institute tries to provide all the schedules through e-mail to the possible extent, but not bear any responsibility in the delivery or failure of the mail/sms/other communications at any stage of admission. Hence, candidates advised to contact the admission cell time to time for information. 3

2. VENUE OF ENTRANCE EXAM AND INTERVIEW NIFTEM campus, Plot No. 97, Sector- 56, HSIIDC Estate, Kundli, Distt. Sonepat, Haryana- 131028, website :www.niftem.ac.in. Venue can be located as under: 3. Dates for generating Entrance Exam Admit card / Interview Authorization Slip (M. Tech & Ph.D.) For M. Tech Candidates to be downloaded from NIFTEM website between 5th to 10 th July, 2017. For Ph. D candidates Issuance of admit card for Research Entrance Test (RET) will be on 5 th July, 2017 and interview authorization slip on 6 th and 7 th July, 2017 on reporting at NIFTEM. a) Days before Entrance Exam and Interview (Before reaching NIFTEM) i) M Tech candidates may use their Registration Number as (Login ID with Password) to generate Exam / Interview Authorization Slip between 5 th to 10 th July 2017 and the same would be valid for appearing in Entrance Exam / Interview & Counselling (subject to meeting eligibility condition). ii) Ph. D. Candidates who will appear for RET can get their admit card in person from admission help desk on 5 th July 2017 morning 9 AM. iii) Ph. D. Candidates who qualified RET and NET can get their interview authorization slip from admission help desk on 6 th July 2017 or 7 th July, 2017 at 9 AM. 4

4. Candidates must ensure their eligibility as per the admission brochure 2017-18. Inclusion of their names in the list of eligible candidates, due to any reason does not entitle them for admission. 5. ONLINE COUNSELLING PROCESS i) Candidates must report online on the day of counselling in time, as notified under Counselling Schedule available on the website. Candidates who fail to report by stipulated time shall have to forfeit his/her claim for seat. For any change in schedule, candidates are advised to refer the website from time to time, as the schedule is notified on the website only. However institute would try to provide the schedule through e- mail/sms to the possible extent, but not bear any responsibility in the delivery or failure of the mail. For the counselling, the candidates will be intimated by email and SMS on the mail id and the mobile number mentioned in the form. ii) Allotment of seats to the candidates will be made only when he/she attends the counselling session online (Reporting in person is neither needed nor acceptable). A candidate who fails to report online on the notified date and time for counselling, shall forfeit his/her claim for the seat which could have been offered to him/her. iii) During the process of online counselling, candidates will be asked to give their consent for willingness to take admission at NIFTEM, they will be also asked to fill the choice of category in which they are willing to take admission as per the merit on first day of counselling. iv) Seats will be allotted in the order of merit to the candidates as per availability at that point of time. v) The provisionally selected candidates will have to pay the fee online in the time slot given. Fee payment in the form of demand draft is not acceptable. Payment of fee is must to confirm the seat on the scheduled date. After the online fee payment, candidates must include the Registration Number and UTR/Transaction Reference Number in the online counselling form in order to generate provisional admission/seat allotment letter. The candidates must keep online transaction documents/acknowledge fee receipt for producing on the day of reporting at NIFTEM. vi) During the reporting just before commencement of classes all the documents will be verified in original and until then admission shall be provisional. 5

vii) It is advised in the interest of the candidates to carefully decide to take admission, during the counselling, only if he/she intends to pursue the programme. Fee maybe forfeited as per the provision of Refund Rules of NIFTEM as mentioned under clause 6 of this document. During reporting, the admitted candidates must bring Certificate of Medical Fitness, Anti Ragging affidavit and duly filled Hostel Application form (in original) on the reporting date to the respective UG/PG department. The formats will be available in the admission portal. 5. CONVERSION OF CATEGORY The conversion of unfilled category seats (after exhausting the full list of that particular category) may take place as per the Government of India rules/notifications. Such conversion shall be done only after the final counselling and no such conversion will be allowed during the initial counselling. However, while converting the seats during final counselling, any unfilled seat(s) reserved for ST Category will be offered to SC Category and vice versa. 6. WITHDRAWAL OF ADMISSION AFTER FIRST COUNSELLING AND REFUND OF FEE Candidates willing to withdraw admission may request for admission cancellation and refund of fees through an application (refer Annexure I). The scanned application is accepted through e-mail from the registered mail id to admission cell. The refund of fees shall be made in due course with a minimum time period of 15 days from the date of receipt of application. While applying for withdrawal of admission the candidates will be required to surrender the original Admission Letter, Fees Receipt etc. issued to him/her at the time of Counselling/Admission. 7. ADMISSION THROUGH SECOND COUNSELLING Detailed Schedule of Second Counselling, depending upon the number of seats available on account of withdrawal(s)/any other reason(s), will be displayed in institute s website www.niftem.ac.in. Candidates may visit the website from time to time for latest update, if any. The second counselling will commence after the first list in order of merit for all categories as per schedule i.e. applicants unable to report in first counselling will not be eligible to take part in second counselling. Note: A candidate, who has taken admission during 1 st counselling, and then he/she withdraws his/her admission shall not be considered for admission in 2 nd counselling. The rest of the procedure for Second Counselling shall remain the same as for the first counselling. 7

7. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED, IN ORIGINAL, FOR ADMISSION AT THE TIME OF INTERVIEW Candidates are required to carry all following certificates, in original, to the reporting hall. Class X Marksheet and Certificate (as a proof of DoB) Undergraduate Marksheet and Certificate Postgraduate Marksheet and Certificate (For PhD and M Tech, wherever applicable) Valid GATE Score card (For M Tech candidates only) NET Certificate if available (For PhD candidates only) Admit card / Interview Authorization Slip. 8. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED, IN ORIGINAL, FOR ADMISSION AT THE TIME OF REPORTING (i) Candidates are required to carry all the following certificates, in original, to the reporting hall. Admission/Seat Allotment letter and Acknowledgement fee Receipt Class X Marksheet and Certificate (as a proof of DoB) Undergraduate Marksheet and Certificate Postgraduate Marksheet and Certificate (For M Tech, wherever applicable and PhD candidates) Valid GATE Score card (For M Tech candidates only) NET Certificate if available (For PhD candidates only) Six passport size coloured photographs Medical Fitness Certificate format available in NIFTEM website Anti-Ragging Affidavit - format available in NIFTEM website Duly filled Hostel Application form - format available in NIFTEM website 8

An undertaking letter from Parents/Guardian for their wards in case of participation in NIFTEM s Academic/Extra-curricular activitiesformat available in the admission brochure 2017-18) Certificate(s) (if applicable) of SC/ST/OBC (format to be used for central institution with declaration of creamy layer status as per latest guidelines) and Physically Challenged. OBC Certificate Format is available in the admission brochure 2017-18. (ATTENTION- Candidates failing in producing the Category/ Physically Challenged certificate during reporting will be considered as GENERAL and will automatically lose his/her claim of due reservation. The reservation certificate should be in the name of the candidate seeking admission. The reservation certificate in the name of either of parents (Father/Mother/Husband) is not acceptable. The name and other particulars in the reservation certificate should be identical to that in Application form as well as in the 10 th & 12 th class certificates. Any variation in the name or other particulars in reserved category certificate may lead to refusal for admission by Admission Cell in the reserved category. In the absence of reserved category certificate, the candidate will not be entitled for any provisional admission in reserved category on the basis of any undertaking.) ii) A self attested photocopy of all the original certificates should also be brought, which will be retained by NIFTEM. iii) In the absence of mandatory documents of proof for eligibility, the candidates will not be allowed to attend the interview. 9. FEE TO BE DEPOSITED DURING COUNSELLING i. For M Tech admission, the fee for the first semester to be deposited during counselling is Rs.82,900/- (Rupees Eighty Two Thousand Nine Hundred only). ii. For PhD admission, the fee for the first semester to be deposited during counselling is Rs. 65,850/-(Rupees Sixty Five Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty only) for full-time PhD program and Rs. 68,850/- (Rupees Sixty Eight Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty only) for part-time PhD program. Above fee include Tuition fees, Development fees, Hostel fee, Security deposit etc. The detail of fee structure is shown in the admission brochure 2017-18. ------------x------------- 9
