Step 1 Understand your offer You would have received one of the following types of offers. TYPES OF OFFERS FULL OFFER This offer means you have met all the requirements for your program and allows you admission for the term/ intake you have applied for. CONDITIONAL OFFER If you have received a conditional offer, you must meet the condition/s stated in your offer, eg original or certifi ed copies of academic transcripts. Once all the conditions are met, and you have provided all necessary documentation, a conditions met letter will be issued. PACKAGED OFFER A packaged offer is a combination of offers that require you to complete an English language program or another preliminary program before commencing your main program. You must accept the entire package stated in the Offer of Admission. Examples of a packaged offer: ELICOS diploma bachelor ELICOS postgraduate program TERMS Student number Program CRICOS code Admit term Commencement date Attendance Normal duration Tuition fee Overseas student health cover Your student number is a 7 digit number and is located at the top left hand corner of your Offer of Admission eg S1234567. Please mention your student number in all correspondence to us. This is the program you will be undertaking and qualifi cation you will be awarded with if you successfully enrol and complete the program. This is the registration number on the Australian Government s Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). This is the term you will be commencing your program. This indicates the fi rst day of the admit term (fi rst day of lectures and tutorials). You should arrive prior to the start of the commencement date to attend orientation and enrolment on campus. Orientation commences one week prior to commencement date and enrolment commences two weeks prior to commencement date. No enrolment will be permitted two weeks after the commencement date of diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and one week after commencement date for English programs. An internal mode of attendance indicates that you will be studying full-time on-campus at the campus location indicated on your Offer of Admission. An external mode of attendance indicates that you will be studying via distance education from your country of residence. This is the duration of your program. Some programs may allow you the option of completing sooner if a Term 3 intake is available. This is the indicative fee amount per term for a normal full-time study load. If you commence your program as per the admit term on your Offer of Admission, your fees will be calculated in accordance with the fee schedule applicable to your admit year and will be held at that rate for the duration of your program (applicable to on-campus study). As an international student studying in Australia, you are required by the Australian Government to have an appropriate level of medical cover for the duration of your studies. The fee amount indicated on your Offer of Admission is based on the estimated length of your student visa.

Step 2 Accept your offer and pay your fees To accept your Offer of Admission to study at CQUniversity, please follow the instructions outlined below. 1. Read the Offer of Admission to ensure all details, including your program and commencement date, are correct. If you need to defer your offer, you must contact us at international-admissions@cqu.edu.au. If you have not accepted your offer and wish to change program, you will need to submit a new application form for re-assessment. 2. Ensure all conditions, if any on your Offer of Admission have been met. 3. Carefully read and understand the details of your International Student Contract before signing it. 4. Refer to our refund policy: Refund and Excess Payments (Credit Balances) Policy, Principles and Procedures. 5. Pay your tuition fees and visa length Overseas Students Health Cover (OSHC). Payments must be made in Australian dollars. Return the following: Completed and signed International Student Contract Bank draft (if you have opted to pay via bank draft). Bank draft will need to be mailed or delivered in person. All required documents must be returned to the Admissions Centre at international-admissions@cqu.edu.au. Step 3 Apply for your student visa After CQUniversity has received your International Student Contract and processed your payment, we will issue and email a Confi rmation of Enrolment (COE) to you or your agent (if an agent assisted you with your application). A COE is required for your application for a student visa to study and live in Australia legally. Visit the DIAC website at www.immi.gov.au or contact your local Australian Government overseas offi ce to fi nd out how to apply for a student visa and what documents you need to support your application. You need to accept your offer as soon as possible to allow enough time to arrange your student visa.

Step 4 Prepare for your arrival to Australia Once you have accepted your offer and paid your fees, you are ready to plan your arrival to Australia. We aim to provide you with lots of useful information to help you prepare to settle down comfortably in Australia and to get the best out of your time at CQUniversity. You ll need to arrange an airport pickup (generally four working days notice is required), find temporary and long-term accommodation, as well as learn about living in Australia. Contact the Student Services office at the campus you will be studying at for assistance or questions. OVERSEAS STUDENT HEALTH COVER Your classes and teachers Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is mandatory for all international students. DIAC requires all Learning Skills Unit (LSU) international students to maintain OSHC for the duration of their time on a student visa in Australia. Living in Australia Your OSHC will help you pay for any medical and hospital care you may need while you re studying in Australia and it will contribute towards the cost of most prescription medicines, and Your personal safety an ambulance in an emergency. Getting around VISA CONDITIONS If you are granted a visa, you must abide by its conditions. Failure to comply with these conditions could result in the cancellation of your visa. These conditions include (but are not limited to): Complete the course within the duration specifi ed on the COE Maintain satisfactory academic progress Maintain approved OSHC while in Australia Remain with the principal education provider for six calendar months, unless issued a letter of release from the provider to attend another institution Notify your training provider of your Australian address and any subsequent changes of address within seven days. Student visas are granted only to those who are undertaking full-time study with a registered course. Students are also often required to present evidence of adequate financial resources to cover tuition fees and living expenses (particularly with assessment level 3 and 4 countries). A medical check and an English language proficiency test are also required to be undertaken. In accordance with student visa regulations, international students are required to: Be enrolled full time (unless they are in their final term and Advise DIAC of any change to program or institution completing their course) Notify CQUniversity within seven days of changing address Satisfactorily meet the requirements of a program of study, the Renew a student visa before the expiry date University requires passing at least 50% of courses which they Regularly attend lectures and tutorials. are enrolled in and not failing the same course more than twice Work no more than 40 hours per fortnight during term Students requiring any further information or assistance regarding student visa regulations can contact Students Services or DIAC directly by calling 131 881 or checking the DIAC website at www.immi.gov.au.

WORKING IN AUSTRALIA As per the information provided by DIAC as at October 2009: Student visas that were granted on or after 26 April 2008 will have permission to work automatically included as part of the visa. This applies to both the student and their dependent family members (eg husband/wife). Students granted visas before 26 April 2008 must apply for Permission to Work for both themselves and their dependent family members. This may only be done after the student has started their course in Australia. Students who have been granted permission to work are restricted in the number of hours that can be worked. hilst studying, students may only work a maximum of 40 hours per fortnight. This applies to when the term is in session (that is from the commencement of the teaching term, through to the end of the examination period). The department considers your course to be in session: For the duration of the advertised semesters (including periods when exams are being held) If you have completed your studies and your confi rmation of enrolment is still in effect If you are undertaking another course, during a break from your main course and the points will be credited to your main course. FAMILY/SPOUSE VISAS Family members who wish to accompany a student to Australia may be included in the student s own visa application. If they wish to join the student at a later date they must apply separately. If a student s husband or wife wishes to work while in Australia, they too will require a visa stating that they have permission to work. Working conditions for spouse and dependents are usually conditional upon the student s course of study. A student s children are required to attend school in Australia, but the student is required to pay full fees for any children. LIVING EXPENSES Australia enjoys one of the highest standards of living in the world, while still remaining affordable. Below is a weekly estimate of costs in AUD. This is a guide only and you could spend more or less depending on where you live, your lifestyle and what you study, and whether you bring family members with you. It is generally cheaper to live in a regional city than a metropolitan city such as Sydney. You will need to make sure you have enough funds to support you when you first arrive. It is recommended that you have approximately AU$1500 to AU$3000 available for the first two to three weeks to pay for temporary accommodation and transport. You should bring most of this money as either traveller s cheques or on an international credit card. Traveller s cheques can be cashed at any bank or currency exchange in Australia. Please note that it is not safe to bring large sums of money with you. Lost credit cards or traveller s cheques can be replaced, but very few travel insurance companies will replace lost or stolen cash. Do not ask someone you have just met to handle your cash for you or to take your cash to make payments for you. Not even someone who may indicate they are studying at the same education institution. EDUCATION SERVICES FOR OVERSEAS STUDENTS (ESOS) FRAMEWORK CQUniversity wants you to have a safe, enjoyable and rewarding time in Australia. Australia s laws promote quality education and consumer protection for international students. Step 5 Enrol and attend orientation ENROLMENT Enrolment commences two weeks prior to the start of your admit term. Example: Your admit term is Term 1, 2014. Classes commence on Monday, 24 February 2014 for Term 1, 2014. Hence enrolment begins on Monday, 10 February 2014. You will not be able to enrol after classes commence. When you arrive in Australia, you need to enrol in the courses (subjects or units) of your program. During enrolment, you will select courses associated with your program of study and offi cially enrol in those courses at the University. You must enrol prior to attending orientation. 1. It is your degree You must enrol in person as proxy enrolments (another person enrolling on your behalf) are not allowed and against University policy. 4. Special condition on your Offer of Admission These must be met prior to enrolling. For example: if you have to submit evidence of your English profi ciency, you must bring the original documents on or prior to the day of your enrolment. 5. No late enrolments Students should arrive and enrol prior to class commencement date. If for some reason you are unable to arrive on time, please contact the Student Services offi ce at the campus you will be studying at. 6. Credit transfer Application for credit transfer (credit exemption or recognition of prior learning) must be made at the time of application. You will not be able to have credits assessed at enrolment. ORIENTATION There are orientation sessions at every campus to help ease your entry into university life and Australia.
