Fall Spring First year February 1 November 1 Transfer April 1 November 1 Deposit deadline May 1 December 1 FIRST- YEAR STUDENT APPLICATION PROCEDURE AND CHECKLIST Application Form: Complete the application form and return it to the Oªce of Undergraduate Admission. $55 Application Fee: A non-refundable $55 application fee (in U.S.dollars) must be submitted along with your application form. Make check or money order payable to Simmons College. Declaration of Finances Form: This must have an oªcial bank stamp and seal. Please include any other supporting documents, such as bank statements and letters confirming support. Secondary School Transcript and College Counselor/Adviser Evaluation Form: Complete the top portion of the Secondary School Report and College Counselor/Adviser Recommendation Form and give it to your college counselor/adviser. Your counselor should complete the counselor recommendation and attach an oªcial copy of your secondary school transcript. This should include a record of subjects taken and grades earned for each year of secondary school. These documents must have the oªcial signature and seal of your school oªcial. Teacher/Professor Evaluation: Complete the top portion of the Teacher/Professor Evaluation and Recommendation Form and give it to a teacher who has instructed you in an academic subject. Exams (if applicable): Oªcial or certified true copies of all national, public, or qualifying examinations you have taken. Standardized Test Scores: If English is not your native language, you must submit your test results from the TOEFL, IELTS, or another comparable test. A minimum TOEFL score of 560 paper-based (83 Internet-based) or IELTS score of 6.5 is recommended for admission. Additional English language proficiency exams are accepted on a case by case basis. Scores will be reviewed individually. If English is your first language, you must take either the SAT with writing or the ACT. Scores will be accepted from oªcial secondary school transcripts. For scores being sent directly by the College Board, the Simmons College code is 3761. College Essay: Choose one of the three essay topics listed in the application. Your essay should be typewritten and reflective of your own work. Please ensure that your essay submission is at least 250 and no more than 500 words. Interview: Strongly recommended. Both in-person and telephone interview options are available. TRANSFER STUDENTS Submit all the above, except the College Counselor/Advisor Evaluation Form. Please include: Academic Adviser Evaluation for International Transfer Students. Oªcial university transcripts from all schools attended. University transcripts from institutions outside the U.S. must be officially translated and evaluated by the Center for Educational Documentation, P.O. Box 199, Boston, MA 02117. Midterm Grade Report Form if your transcript with your current grades will not arrive at Simmons in time to make an admission decision. Copy of passport and visa if currently on a visa in the U.S., please submit a copy of your passport and visa. FINANCIAL AID Simmons College does not o er financial aid to international students. Merit scholarships are available and range from two thousand to fifteen thousand dollars. TUITION DEPOSIT If you are admitted to Simmons College, a non-refundable tuition deposit of $250 must be paid to hold your place in your class and for immigration paperwork to be generated. To reserve residence hall space, you will be asked to submit an additional housing deposit of $250. Simmons s Honors Program provides an enriched curriculum offered through small seminars, team-taught courses, study abroad opportunities, research projects, and/or honors independent study. The program is designed to encourage depth of study in the student s chosen major, and to enhance knowledge through interdisciplinary study and global awareness. The program also includes career exploration courses, cocurricular activities on campus and in Boston, and assistance with applying for graduate school and national awards, such as the Fulbright, Truman, and Boren grants. Any prospective student of Simmons College may apply for admission to the Honors Program. Those who are admitted into this highly selective program are self-motivated, intellectually curious, and eager for challenge. They graduate near the top of their high school class and have a solid record of honors, AP, or IB courses. Transfer students must demonstrate continued success in their university-level studies. To apply to the Honors Program you must complete the standard admission application PLUS the supplemental application for the Honors Program, on the reverse side of this page.
