Information Waterloo opened in 1907, so has seen a lot of life over the years. We always strive to offer an excellent, wellrounded education for all of our children. Waterloo is a three form entry, meaning that there are three classes of children in every year group. We cater for children from three, to eleven years old. We have approximately 670 children on roll. The academy is part of Zest Academy Trust which promotes its own set of values which we believe in. Job Purpose Assist the Principal and Vice Principal in leading and managing the academy Support and represent the Principal at meetings as and when required Model excellent teaching Work in collaboration with the Principal in formulating and reviewing the mission statement, whole academy development plan, aims and objectives of the academy by: o establishing the policies through which they shall be achieved o managing staff and resources to achieve aims o monitoring progress towards their achievement Deputise for the Principal & Vice Principal as required Play an active role in academy strategic planning as a member of the academy s senior leadership team. Be responsible for leading and co-ordinating curriculum development and planning, teaching and learning in a designated area Take senior leadership responsibility for safeguarding, child protection and LAC at the school, Carry out a designated programme of teaching where required Person Specification Qualifications / Experience Essential Desirable Qualified teacher status Educated to degree level Evidence of personal commitment to continuous professional development Evidence of preparation for primary school leadership roles Experience of teaching in more than one primary school Experience of teaching in more than one primary key stage Experience of teaching in more than one primary year group Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies within a school setting Accredited safer recruitment certificate Experience of working in the role of designated senior lead Responsibility for leading a core area across school Building and sustaining effective working relationships with staff, governors, parents and the school community. Responsibility for raising standards Experience of leading teams to achieve a specific outcome for children Experience of curriculum design or developing schemes of work Experience of managing change at whole school level Experience of leading appraisal or performance reviews Professional knowledge and skills Evidence of strong professional knowledge Understanding of how children learn and achieve Can fully articulate what makes good teaching and learning. Qualifications / Experience Ability to secure and maintain excellent teaching, which results in strong pupil progress in learning. Ability to plan lessons effectively for all pupils in a class setting and ability to demonstrate best classroom practice to colleagues Ability to coach and mentor other professionals to achieve specific outcomes Ability to challenge and inspire colleagues Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including through ICT Working knowledge & understanding of school safeguarding procedures Have high expectations of pupil s behaviour; be able to empathise with pupils and be firm, fair and consistent Knowledge and understanding of positive behaviour strategies and dealing with specific behavioural issues Ability to analyse data and pinpoint key issues in order to inform staff on the way forward Commitment to providing extra-curricular activities and an understanding of its wider impact.
