Designing and developing server-side web pages that incorporate text, graphics, and other supporting elements using current technologies and authoring tools. 2. Joomla CMS The Joomla Content Management System. WordPress CMS The WordPress Content Management System. 3. CMS Templates We explore the use of a simple HTML and CSS to alter the appearance of CMS templates. 4. Images and Text Controlling images and text within a CMS 5. Users Managing 1-1,000 online users permissions and privileges. 6. Databases - Creating database tables and linking to user accounts. Course Semester Credit Hours (SCH) (lecture, lab) Credit and Lecture 96.00 hrs; External Hours: 48 hours Note: 1 hour of classroom instruction equates to a minimum of 1.5 hours of out-of-class student work each week. Apply the latest security techniques to secure files inside a CMS. 3. Apply design techniques in the creation and optimization of graphics and other embedded objects inside a CMS. 4. Demonstrate the use of HTML and CSS (W3C) formatting and layout standards to create pages inside a CMS. 5. Test, and maintain a CMS Web site with multiple visitors Learning Objectives Students will: Identify how the Internet functions with specific attention to the World Wide Web and file transfer. 1. Practice locating Web folders and files inside a remote online directory. 2. Practice creating files and images in a local folder, then uploading files to the Internet to a remote folder. 3. Practice using FTP client software to upload files to remote servers, then making a note of the URLs. 4. Emailing, and pasting URLs to the instructor as required. Apply design techniques in the creation and optimization of graphics and other embedded objects. 5. Involve the placement of graphics such as logos, photographs and drawings into tutorial and individual projects. 6. Ensure that images are saved in the correct format appropriate to its type and usage. 7. Make the image in its original file of the dimension desired for use on the Web page, and save it to as small a file size as possible while maintaining high display resolution. Demonstrate the use of World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) formatting and layout standards.

Webpage Project (80% of Final grade) Redesigning, editing & updating all your assignment pages from the Lessons in class using the tools inside Joomla! and CSS and XML. Improving upon the Midterm Project template to create an enhanced Final Project. This project/website will be presented to the class as a presentation for part of the student's total grade. Also a folder with printouts of all the webpages and a CD of ALL the webpage files will be submitted at the time of the presentation. This will be a "presentation" that would be of the quality that one would give to a prospective client or employment interview. No Late Submissions - if you fail to present - you will receive an "F" for this portion of the final...no exceptions. 2. This course is part online course combining instructions and lectures, Forum discussions (Q&A), and teacher examples. Each project has a reasonable amount of lab time to allow student time to use labs or libraries. As a student wanting to complete IMED 2315, it is your responsibility to read the textbook, submit assignments on the due dates, study for the exams, participate in online activities and class discussions, and enjoy yourself while experiencing the real world of education. As I believe that engaging the students in the learning is essential for success in this class, you will spend the majority of class time practicing HTML, and completing your class projects on your own. Midterm Web Site (Midterm Review) (25%) Students are require to create a web site during the first half of the semester.
