The Friends of Historic Hulett s Landing is a community group dedicated to preserving the history of our local area through collections and programs. This newsletter is our way of keeping our members and interested folks aware of our activities. We hope you enjoy it and want to join us in the planned activities. We each have a deep and enduring commitment to the Lake and its History and welcome your interest, donations, and ideas. P r e s i d e n t s Letter Welcome to our 15 th summer of activities! Here are some of our recent initiatives Oral Histories. Marian Knight has continued to lead this effort and conducted several important interviews in 2012, with 10 more in 2013. The results are available for review in the Huletts Library & Gallery now and will be online later this year. We are hiring people to transcribe interviews. Contact Marian (499-2955) to get involved with this most important project. We received a third grant from the Rockefeller Foundation which we will use to continue funding of this project, primarily for transcription and printing. Digital Collection. Digitizing Huletts History. We continue adding to our graphic collection with images of vintage Huletts photographs and postcards. Examples are on display at the HL&G. If you have material that could be of interest, or know someone who does, we would like to borrow them to scan (or just receive 300 to 600 dpi scans) and also to get as much information about each as we can. Call me at 499-0330. Library. Louise Davidson led the effort to organize and cull the book collection over the past few months. We encourage the community, including summer renters, to use the building, library, and museum at normal hours or at other hours by arrangement. While we have more or less filled available shelves, book donations (and now DVDs) will allow continued upgrading of the collection. An effort to inform summer renters of the library and its policies will be enhanced in 2013. The book drop is available for off hours returns. Gallery. This Summer will see two art shows and the now traditional art auction run by Suzanne Straton which is also an important funding source. We also have notecards and artwork for sale and we would like to expand the collection of images that we can use. We encourage members to make favorite vintage images available. Call me at 499-0330 Potable Water. We will try to get the last of the potable water line run soon. Newsletter. We will continue both a printed and an E-mail version of the newsletter. Be sure to keep your E-mail address up to date or send changes to lucindafh@yahoo.com. If anyone you know is interested, please have them send their E-address to Lucinda as well. We are largely dependent on membership to fund the programs. We do need help and encourage you to
