Roman Catholic Diocese of Urdaneta OUR LADY OF THE PILLAR PARISH Sta. Maria, Pangasinan U.S.A. Contact person: DIRECTOR/FOUNDER: MERIA RICAFRANCA MAY QUEEN OF ALL NATIONS MISSIONARY ALLIANCE 8 RESERVOIR AVE., DOVER NEW JERSEY 07801, USA February 12, 2015 PROJECT NAME/TITLE: CONSTRUCTION OF ONE CLASSROOM AND A MULTI PURPOSE HALL OF OUR LADY OF THE PILLAR CATHOLIC SCHOOL Contact Persons: Rev. Msgr. LAZARO P. HORTALEZA, VG (Parish Priest) Acronym for the name of the Project: COCMPHOLPCS Address: Our Lady of the Pillar Parish, Sta. Maria, Pangasinan, Philippines Telephone: +63 949 762 0789 E-mail: lhortz@yahoo.com Background: Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic School was founded in 2000, when then the Parish Priest, the Rev. Fr. Domingo Catungal, responding to the directive of the late bishop of the Diocese of Urdaneta, the Most Rev. Jesus C. Galang, DD, to maximize avenues for the evangelization program of the Diocese. The foundation of schools was one of the means in promoting catechetical and religious instructions among the children. Fifteen years since its foundation, few developments of the school have been initiated. Statement of the Problem: With the support of the parish community, several classrooms were built to cater to the nursery, kindergarten, primary and intermediate classes. The administration, in view of limited facilities, cannot move forward with the school's elevation into the secondary level. Hence, the school could only accommodate not more than a hundred students. In fact the School has to utilize the Parish Hall and the Church itself for important activities and programs. The Parish with the support of the Diocesan Schools' board is very supportive though in delivering quality religious instruction. However, many things are yet to be desired so as to give quality education to the students. It is with such support from benefactors that we can move forward. Objective:
The overall objective of the project: Construction of one Classroom and the OLPCS Hall. It is through these facilities that better learning condition and evangelization efforts are made easier. Justification of the Need to Apply: Our local contribution would not be enough since the Parish Church has just undergone major renovation. The Diocesan financial support could not lend assistance at this time since the Diocese is catering to even less assisted Catholic schools. It is incumbent upon the local community to find ways and means to support the project since our own local children are themselves benefitting to the services of the school. Local Contributions: As of this date the School is starting with a very meager budget at P250,000.00 or $5,600.00 and we need an estimated budget of P1,000,000.00 or $22,200.00 for the Multi-Purpose Hall and P500,000.00 $11,100.00 for the Classroom. However, the local community continues to device ways and means to raise funds for the said project. Time Frame of the Project: It is hoped that the project will be finished in a year a half. With the funds at hand the project will be initiated at the end of the school-year 2014-2015 (April 2015). Approaches - Administration and Sustainability The project will be in coordination with the Diocesan Schools' Board headed by Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Urdaneta, the Most Rev. Jacinto A. Jose, DD and the superintendent of the Diocesan Schools, the Very Rev. Crisanto Draculan, and with our local officers: the Parish Priest, Rev. Msgr. Lazaro P. Hortaleza, Mr. Panfilo Repollo, and Mrs. Linda Laguit, PPC President and School Principal respectively. Expected Tangible Results: It is hoped that with the completion of the projects, the school can accommodate more students and the programs to be held in the Multi-Purpose Hall will be better realized. Thank you very much in advance for your generosity, and may the good Lord continue to bless your undertakings and that more will benefit from your charity works and programs especially in promoting the faith and the good news of salvation. Sincerely in the Lord, REV. MSGR. LAZARO P. HORTALEZA, VG Parish Priest
