The Master of Building Surveying, the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma that form this Masters program provide professionals with the knowledge and expertise to access and evaluate building regulation laws and make recommendations for alternative building solutions. It caters to your need to understand performancebased building regulations and fire safety principles. The course is relevant to professionals, understanding of building regulations within states and territories and how alternative solutions are developed using the National Construction Code (NCC). This program is designed for working professionals, as students can access it from different states and territories. WHAT YOU LL STUDY The course has been developed in consultation with practising building surveyors, certifiers and associate professionals to meet the needs of the building surveying profession. Western Sydney University s Building Surveying courses have nearly two decades of history and are well recognised by the building surveyors profession and industry for meeting the changing building regulatory environment. We take a balanced approach to education in the fundamental knowledge and problem-solving skills. You will gain an understanding of building regulations and their interpretations, fire engineering principles and various Australian Standards that become building regulations under the NCC. You will gain knowledge in the practical assessment and approval process adopted by governments, the profession and the building industry. The course is taught by leading industry experts, as well as academics at the University and some units are via distance learning. CAREER OPPTUNITIES Graduates of the Building Surveying programs may meet the various accreditation authorities, requirements in the states and territories. Graduates need to contact the state and territory registration authorities to determine the full registration requirements. Graduates will be equipped with the knowledge to work in the private sector or within government. The Master of Building Surveying and Graduate Diploma are recognised qualifications for professionals seeking accreditation as a building surveyor from the NSW Building Professionals Board. FIRE SAFETY ENGINEERING UNDERSTAND VITAL FIRE SAFETY ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES IN THE BUILT AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. The Master of Fire Safety Engineering provides the skills to assess, evaluate and recommend fire safety solutions. With the growing need to understand fire safety engineering principles, this course is relevant to professionals developing alternative solutions using the National Construction Code (NCC) Australian Building Codes Board and the Fire Engineering Guidelines. Western Sydney University Fire Safety Engineering courses have nearly two decades of history and are well recognised by the building industry nationally and internationally. Bushfire Protection acknowledges the critical need to understand bushfires and their impact on the natural and built environment. Studies reflect a contemporary and critical approach to management, planning and development in bushfire prone areas. WHAT YOU LL STUDY By studying Bushfire Protection at Western Sydney University you will be able to assess and advise on developments in bushfire prone areas as they relate to the building code and the relevant standards.
