Be sure you select courses for next year that help you meet the graduation requirements It is your responsibility to make sure you meet requirements for your college of choice or NCAA (if an athlete).

These are outlined on page 11. Activity fees are listed on page 13. Most of this catalog contains course descriptions and credit information for each one. Read about course content before you make your decisions. You are signing up for classes, not teachers or friends! Be aware not all TUHSD courses are offered at Corona.

SELECT: STEP 1 CHOOSE CAREFULLY Level Change, Honors/AP, & Course Drop Policies Level changes cannot be made to a student s schedule after the first 10 days of the semester. Students who enroll in any honors level course are required to remain in that course for the duration of the semester UNLESS the student receives a D or failing grade for the nine-week grading period. Students who receive a D or failing grade should transfer to a regular level course at that time. Students may drop a course for no credit with no record of it on the transcript within the first 10 weeks. After the 10 th week of school, the transcript of a student who withdraws from a class will show a F for the course. Athletes must drop by nine (9) weeks.

CONSIDERATIONS: Foreign Language: two years in the SAME language are required for in-state university admissions; several out-ofstate colleges require more Math & Science: if you are going into a math/science related career or major, it only makes sense to continue, even if you have already met the requirements Fine Arts & CTE: 2.0 credits required PE & Health: 1.0 & 0.5 credits required Will an elective course better prepare you for college or a career? No signing up for TA at this time! Select a class instead! Zero-Hour Classes: These allow you to take an extra, 7 th class for $175.00 per semester. Add it to the bottom of your course request sheet.

FINALIZE: STEP 1 Obtain Signatures from Parent and Teachers Your parent or guardian must sign and date at the bottom of your completed form to approve your course selections If you are registering for a zero-hour class, your parent or guardian must complete and sign the zero-hour section too Have your current teacher sign for you to advance to the next level of any class (English, math, science, social studies, foreign language, any 3-4, etc.) If you are signing up for Advanced PE, you must get your coach s signature Electives new to you or other first year classes you have never taken before do not require a signature (PE 3-8, Health, Psychology, any 1-2, etc.)
FINALIZE: STEP 2 Turn in Completed Form to Your English Teacher Once you have selected all of your classes, provided two alternate electives, and obtained all needed signatures, TURN SHEET IN TO YOUR ENGLISH TEACHER ON OR BEFORE: Tuesday, January 24 YOUR ENGLISH TEACHER WILL CHECK THAT YOUR FORM IS COMPLETE AND WILL BE THE LAST PERSON TO SIGN YOUR SHEET WHEN COLLECTING IT. English teachers are giving points! Turn it in on time!
FINALIZE: STEP 3 Confirm Your Requests with Your Counselor In February, your English class will visit the Guidance Office You will give your completed course request sheet to your counselor Your counselor will enter your course requests and answer any questions you may have about your schedule for next year WARNINGS: Students who do not have a complete course request worksheet in February will have their schedules created by their counselor. You will be unable to make any choices about your schedule next year! Students who do not provide the mandatory alternate electives will have no choice in their classes if their first choice is not available! Course request worksheets without proper signatures may make you ineligible to take the courses you have requested! COMPLETE IT ALL CORRECTLY AND TURN IT IN ON TIME!
ALTERNATE PROGRAMS Summer School Registration for in-person or online classes will begin in March. Visit the Guidance Office at that time to register. Selection is limited, and there are no honors courses available. Several classes fill up on a first come, first served basis, so don t put it off. See you counselor in March! If you plan to take an MDLP Online course, your counselor can get you enrolled at the beginning of next year. For now, just sign up for the course at Corona. You can drop it next year for the online course. If you are behind in credits and want to enroll in Evening School, Saturday School, MDLP Online, or the Credit Recovery Lab at Corona, visit your counselor in August to make your payment and get registered.
