Coaches Please Read Carefully Issues That Arise During The Course of a Season Proof of Grade/Age Make sure you have proper documents with you to prove your players are in the proper grade. If a protest is made on one of your players and you do not have a copy of his grade card/ birth certificate with you, your team will have to forfeit the game in question. Every Coach should have those with them. We can t let you travel home to get them or have a parent bring them later. They need to be in your possesssion. To protest a player a written protest is required along with a $100.00 cash deposit. If protest is proven the $100.00 will be returned to person protesting If protest is denied, the $100.00 will be donated to the school where game was played. Ohio Youth Basketball does not keep any protest money. The protest must be brought to the attention of tournament director before the end of pool play for results to be changed. The tournament director s name and number is on the bottom of the tie breaker form posted on the web site with the schedule. Please read the Age/Grade eligibilty to make sure your players are in the proper grade. Players Playing Down A Grade Based On Age Any player that is eligible to play down a grade based on his age must be approved by OYB office before the start of that players first OYB 2018 tournament. If player is not approved, team risks forfeiting all games that player has participated in. Players playing on multiple teams within the same grade division A player may only play on one team within the same grade division. If a player is found to be playing on two or more teams in the same grade division, the first team he played with in this tournament is the team that he is assigned to. Any other team that he plays on will have to forfeit their games. This must be brought to the attention of tournament director before the end of pool play for results to be changed. The tournament director s name and number is on the bottom of the tie breaker form posted on the web site with the schedule. A player may play on more than one team if it is in a different grade division. Fans being asked to leave the facility in a timely manner If a fan is asked to leave the facilty due to his/her actions or words, and that fan refuses to leave, the team which the fan is associated with will forfeit game

2018 Boys Ohio Youth Basketball Age/Grade Eligibility The ages listed below try to make sure that a player can participate with his classmates as long as he is eligible to participate with them during the school season. They also try to make sure any player starting school early or moved up due to academic success is not penalized for that success. This rule has created some confusion in the past. If a player is playing down a grade, the OYB office must be notified and cleared to play before he is eligible to participate Failure to do so could mean forfeit of games played 3rd Grade Division 4th Grade Division Must be in the 3rd Grade or under during the 2017-18 school year and will be 10 years or Exception: If player will be 9 years old or he can be in any grade during the 2017-18 school year, which allows him to compete in AAU 9 & under Must be in the 4th Grade or under during the 2018 school year and will be11 years or Exception: If player will be 10 years old or he can be in any grade during the 2017-18 school year, which allows him to compete in AAU 10 & under 5th Grade Division Must be in the 5th Grade or under during the 2017-18 school year and will be 12 years or Exception: If player will be 11 years old or he can be in any grade during the 2017-18 school year, which allows him to compete in AAU 12 & under 6th Grade Division Must be in the 6th Grade or under during the 2017-18 school year and will be 13 years or Exception: If player will be 12 years old or he can be in any grade during the 2017-18 school year, which allows him to compete in AAU 12 & under 7th Grade Division Must be in the 7th Grade or under during the 2017-18 school year and will be 14 years or Exception: If player will be 13years old or under on August 31, 2017 he can be in any grade during the 2017-18 school year, which allows him to compete in AAU 13 & under 8th Grade Division 9th Grade Division 10/11th Grade Division Must be in the 8th Grade or under during the 2017-18 school year and will be 15 years or Exception: If player will be 14 years old or he can be in any grade during the 2017-18 school year, which allows him to compete in AAU 14 & under Must be in the 9th Grade or under during the 2017-18 school year and will 16 years or Exception: If player will be 15 years old or he can be in any grade during the 2017-18 school year, which allows him to compete in AAU 15 & under Must be in the 10/11th Grade or under during the 2017-18 school year and have High School eligibility left for the 2018-19 school season Graduating seniors are not allowed to compete in Ohio Youth Basketball Tournaments regardless of age.

Ohio Youth Basketball Tie Breaking Procedure The higher seeded team when two teams have the same record after completion of pool play will be determined by the winner of their head to head competition. To determine the seeding when three teams have the same record after completion of pool play, we must use the plus/minus formula. Only games involving those teams that are tied will be used and their is a 15 point cap on margin of victory. Lowest plus / minus is eliminated from tie and they finish 3rd We then have two teams left and we go back to their head to head result Please see below for an example: Team #1 Won 2 Lost 1 Beat #2 by 4 pts Lost to #3 by 8 pts Beat #4 by 18 pts Team #2 Won 2 Lost 1 Lost to # 1 by 4 pts Beat #3 by 16 pts Beat #4 by 20 pts Team #3 Won 2 Lost 1 Beat #1 by 8 pts Lost to #2 by 16 pts Beat #4 by 3 pts Team #4 Won 0 Lost 3 Lost to #1 by 18 pts Lost to #2 by 20 pts Lost to #3 by 3 pts We do not use the scores of any games involving Team 4 as they are not involved in the tie Team #1 has totals of +4 amd -8 = - 4 Team #2 has totals of -4 and + 15 = +11 Team #3 has totals of +8 and -15 = - 7 Lowest plus / minus is eliminated from tie and finishes 3rd. In this case it is Team # 3 with a -7 We now have two teams tied and we go back to their head to head results Team #1 is 1st because they beat team #2 head to head If you are involved in a three way tie YOU MUST CONTACT Ohio Youth Basketball Call Phil @ 740-808-6192 If anyone else tells you the results they are not official
