SEATTLE EXCHANGE LEARN FROM A CUSTOMIZED CURRICULUM We have designed a curriculum to challenge your mind and to build your skills in English, whether you come to the U.S. as a beginning, intermediate, or advanced speaker. WRITING Travel creates a perfect reason to write. Our writing class will inspire you with ideas for your own travel journal. READING You will read stories written by American authors about their own childhoods, to help you understand American culture and to think about your own identity. LISTENING A selection of recent feature films will give you a rich listening experience. You will watch scenes of people on cross-cultural journeys and discuss themes from the films. BUSINESS ENGLISH OPTION If your group chooses a Business English focus, then your Reading, Writing, and Listening practice will engage with real-world challenges from the workplace. You will learn to handle email, reports, agendas, conference calls, and more! Downtown Kirkland ENGAGE IN A CAPSTONE PROJECT You will work with your classmates to share a presentation with the Northwest University community. This is your chance to teach your U.S. campus hosts about your own culture, history, and values.

SEATTLE EXCHANGE PREPARE FOR AN ADVENTURE Follow these steps to get ready for your trip to the U.S. ENTRY DOCUMENTS To be able to enter the U.S., you will need to register for ESTA, an automated system allows visitors to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). If you do not qualify for ESTA, then you will need to apply for a B1-B2 Visa for entry to the U.S. Visit these official websites to get started on the ESTA process: http://www.cbp.gov/travel/international-visitors/esta https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/ HEALTH INSURANCE AIRLINE TICKETS You will need to purchase airfare from Seoul to Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac), arriving on July 12 before 4 p.m. ORIENTATION AIRPORT ARRIVAL PASSPORT You must have a valid, current passport to enter the U.S. You must provide Northwest University with a copy of the information page at the front of your passport. You will need to purchase travel insurance to cover any medical expenses during your time in the U.S. You must provide Northwest University with a copy of your travel insurance information. When you arrive at SeaTac airport on July 12, expect to spend about one hour passing through customs and immigration. Northwest University staff will meet you at the airport baggage claim after you pass through customs. Watch for the Northwest University sign to meet your group for the bus ride to campus. When you arrive, we will help you get settled into life at Northwest University. We will explain a few important rules you should know for example, smoking and alcohol are not allowed on campus. We will help you find your way around so you can have a safe and enjoyable visit to Seattle.

SEATTLE EXCHANGE ENJOY DELICIOUS MEALS Northwest University s campus cafeteria called "The Caf will give you lots of fresh, healthy options. From basics like rice, vegetables, and fish to special items like kimchi, we will try to help you feel at home. You also will get to try favorite American foods like salad, hamburgers, pizza, and ice cream. A selection of hot entrees will be ready for you at every meal. Still hungry? Go back for seconds! At this meal station, you can cook for yourself with fresh ingredients. Salad! Pizza! French fries! So many choices.

SEATTLE EXCHANGE SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE Trying new foods is an important part of a cross-cultural experience. At the Caf, you will get to try something new at each meal and pick what you like best. From the birds-eye view at the top of the Space Needle to hands-on exhibits at the Seattle Aquarium and Pacific Science Center, you will have plenty of chances to use new vocabulary, to ask good questions, and to engage with the Pacific Northwest region.
